Chapter Seventeen

Here's your update!!

He kissed my lips and speed walked away, What the hell was that!!

I followed him, trying to walk faster, but the heels were not helping and the pain in my stomach doubles whenever I try to walk fast, I leaned on a pillar to catch my breath because those people, so called my friends were so fast or maybe I'm super slow

" Are you ok?" Came Kartik's voice, he then softly held my hand and began to walk

" Sorry, I'm walking too slow" I said looking at the ground

" Who even wants to go to that event anyway" he replied in a cool tone.

We finally reached the doors, Kartik said something to the guards in other language and guards opened the door for us revealing a big hall decorated with expensive things, the men wore tuxedos and looked mysterious with their masks on, the ladies looked as if they came straight from heaven. But it sort of gave an eerie vibe.

Kartik and I went through the crowd and we spotted some familiar masks, and joined that table.

" Where were you guys?" Lucas asked

" Oh you know! Just hiding behind a pillar and doing what normal couples do" Megan added while giggling

" Nothing of that sort happenend " Kartik said in a plane tone and then went away

I'm sure my face would have turned crimson red, thank god I was wearing a mask.

Lucas and Megan were busy in their own business, I don't blame them, they were meeting after a long time, Tyler was busy in his phone, while David and I were giggling at the people passing by.

" See her, she looks like a frog" David said while tilting his head in a direction with a mischievous smile on. I giggled too looking at her.

There was a lady wearing a green velvet dress, with some golden trimmings, and her face was caked with makeup.

" What are you both laughing at?" Kartik's stern voice came from behind me, I can feel his tuxedo touching my bare back, I felt kind of secured, it was another type of feeling, like someone was there to look out for you, to protect you.

" Hello Mr. Russo" someone's voice came, I saw a man coming towards our table

" Why are you so formal Kyle" Kartik said in a bored manner

" How can you recognise me, even with this mask on?" He sounded surprised as he shook hands with Kartik, who was still standing behind me.

" Hey Lucas, Meg" he waved at them to get their attention, to which Lucas and Meg responded.

" It's useless to speak to Tyler, but who are you two?" Kyle looked at us suspiciously

" No one, nothing you should be concerned about" David replied with a bitter tone

" David Russo, what are you doing here" came another voice which made everyone at the table go silent, I know this voice very well.

Xavier walked with some men towards our table, my anxiety was peaking up by every step he's taking. Everyone was focused on him, even Tyler has kept his phone down. Kartik held my shoulders gently from behind, where he was standing, and Lucas gave me a look.

" Just visiting my cousin" David said in a bitter tone again

He looked at Kartik and then he followed his hand and his gaze finally landed on me.

" I didn't know, you got yourself a girl" Xavier said

" Well, I like to keep things quite" Kartik replied

" Ya, too quite" Xavier chukled

" What do you want?" Kartik asked

" Kartik Russo, you killed my sister and had the guts to send her dead body to me" Xavier said with anger in his voice

David immediately looked at Kartik, with a meaningful look, what's happening

" As if she was not already dead" Kartik said

" That's for me to decide, well, I don't care and who are you beautiful" Xavier said looking at me

I looked at him, but then looked at my lap again, " she can't speak" Lucas said raising from his seat

" Oh, now I wonder why you like things quite" Xavier said with a smirk and went away.

David was about to yell at Kartik, " Let's go, this party is dead" Kartik said and so we all got up, but then a gunshot is heard.

Everything stopped.
