Chapter Eighteen

Hey guys!! Here is your update.

A gun shot was heard, and everyone went silent, I looked at Kartik, but he seemed to be in pain. My gaze averted to his shoulder, it was red, blood.

" Get down" David shouted from behind, so we all ducked behind the table.

" Meg stay with Naira" Lucas shouted and ran away with Kartik on his side, who looked enraged right now.

Gunshots were coming from everywhere, in this way we'll end up dead. I looked here and there and saw some men on the balcony shooting at the people.

" Want to see something?" I asked Megan

She gave me a confused look, I smiled at her, and raised my right hand a little, and concentrated.

" Naira..your...your eyes... they're red" Megan stuttered

" Just stay still" I told her and with full force took out the men on the balcony, nobody noticed it, cause it's abnormal.

" How did you..." Megan was at a loss of words

I held her hand and proceeded towards the exit, when I noticed David coming our way

" Come this way" he signalled us and we followed him, but a lot of people were running here and there, so we occasionally lost him in the crowd, and suddenly the gunshots were heard again, we all ducked down.

After a second or two, it stopped, I gathered some courage and looked behind and saw Kartik aiming the gun on the dead body. His eyes connected with mine.

" What a bloody event" he muttered as he came towards us

" Let's go" he said and dragged me behind with Megan following us

" Is your arm ok?" I tried to ask but he just glared at me, as if I've done something wrong.

We all settled in our cars, the drive was silent. When we reached the mansion everyone silently went to their rooms with David glaring at Kartik and sometimes at me. What the hell is happening??

It was midnight, and I was tossing on the bed, something was bugging me but I don't know what.

" Uurrgghh" I groaned and went downstairs to get myself something to drink.

On my way down, I heard shouting and something crashing and breaking down, it was coming from Kartik's office.

I tried to listen the voices from outside the office, but all I heard were swearing words.

" You fu!ing lied to me" David shouted

" Don't act like a kid, it was for your benefit" Kartik shouted back

" You're the one acting like a damn kid or are you so whipped that you can't see the truth" David said in a bitter tone

What are they talking about?

" I will not let you kill her" Kartik replied in a dangerous tone.

Then suddenly a shadow overshadowed my body, I turned around and saw a guard looking at me suspiciously. He held my arm roughly and took me inside the office. I'm so doomed.

" What are you doing here?" Kartik asked looking at me and then at the guard

" Sir, she was sneaking around" the guard replied

I was not, the guts of that guard, if only David was not here, I would have crushed his throat with my powers.

" Ok. Leave" Kartik said, and I was about to turn around to leave the office

" Not you Naira" Kartik's voice reached my ears and I froze on the spot.

The guard left the office, closing the door behind him. Now I have two men staring to me, I felt like a prey.

" Naira Valentino" David said in a bitter tone

" Umm...hey David" I said nervously

" David" Kartik said in a warning tone.

David walked closer towards me

" So tell me, how is your brother" he said, why is he asking idiotic questions

" You just met him, like a few hours ago, didn't you?" I said in a sassy tone, where did I get this confident from

" David you still don't know many things" Kartik said again

" The hell I don't know anything, I know one thing that her brother helped my father, and that's the only thing I cared about" David shouted

" See I don't know anything about Xavier" I tried to calm him down

" Oh yeah? Really? I don't think so, tell me how many innocent lives have you taken?" David said again, poking where it hurts

Kartik walked between us, and faced David, " Enough David" he shouted

" No let him " I pushed Kartik out of the way

" You want to kill me? Why?, Just because I'm related to Xavier?" I asked him again

" Yes, just because you're related to Xavier, and you want to accept it or not, your blood is stained with his sins of killing the innocents" David said poking me with his finger on my shoulder

I scoffed, " Jokes on you, I'm adopted"

I was beyond angry, my eyes turned red and I forwarded my both hands to let the power out, I focused the powers towards David and in a flash David flew and banged on the wall and then fell on the floor with a thud. He groaned in pain.

Kartik let out a sigh, " Told you, you don't know many things" he said and went to pick him up

I'm sorry, I was not able to update, because of my college stuff😓.
