Chapter Fifteen

Here is your update!!

I was walking upstairs to get ready for the event, that's when I saw David lighting a cigar, he noticed me and waved at me, I walked towards him

" You're going to the event?" He asked

I nodded, " Hmm"

" You might be special then, if Kartik is taking you with him" he said smiling

" What are you up to?" I glared at him while folding my hands near my chest

" Don't misunderstand me, I was merely stating the facts" he said raising his hands in surrender. I was about to go, but then I realized something, I turned around and faced David again

" I told you...." I cut him off in between and said, " what's the event for, who will be there" I asked in a hurry tone

" It's none of your concern, we'll keep you safe" David assured me

" Just at least tell me the names of the people" I was literally begging, I don't want to see Xavier

" How about you tell me the name of your kidnapper Miss Naira and in return of that, I'll give the answer of your question" he said leaning a bit closer and bending to my height.

" Naira!" Someone shouted from behind

David and I both looked at the source of the sound, it was Kartik. He walked towards me and held my hand

" I want to talk to you about something" Kartik said and before I could answer, he dragged me to his office

" What the hell, why did you drag me here" I said snatching my hand back from his grip

" I just saw the guest list, I think Xavier would be there" he told me

No sooner did he told me that, I became numb at the thought of seeing his face, I can't deal with it, I don't want to see him even, what if he tries to kidnapp me again, no this can't happen.

" I can't go to the event" I said still in a shocked state

" But you have to, if you stay here, no one will be here to protect you, and maybe that's what he wanted" Kartik explained

" But this same thing can happen at the event too" I tried to make him understand

" But it's a masquerade party" Kartik said reading a file in his hands

" What? , A masquerade?" I said and snatched the file from his hands to read it myself

" The host is one of my friend, he's not in any mafia or something, but he does have his allies" Kartik explained

" Why are you telling me this?" I asked looking at him forgetting about the file

" Why am I telling you this, umm, see, just come with us , at least we would be there to protect you" he explained nervously, I never saw him nervous

" Why are you protecting me, I never asked you?" I asked again, dumb question, why the hell did I even ask that

" Enough with the why's, just go and get ready" he said and took the file from my hand and grabbed my shoulders and guided me out of the office and then closed the door on my face

What was that about?, Well I don't care how he talks to me, how he behaves with me, umm, maybe a little

" Naira??" I heard Meg's voice, so I turned around and saw her speed walking towards me, I waved at her

" Why are you in such a hurry?" I asked looking at her, she looks exhausted

" Do you have a dress?" She asks while still catching her breath

" I don't think so" I said smiling sheepishly

" Awesome!! I would love to help you!" She said excitedly and suddenly hugged me tightly, no sooner did she hugged me, a sharp pain occurred on the left side of my stomach, it was the wound, it was a pretty big one when I was brought here, but it's healing now.

" Ahh!" I whimpered in the lowest tone possible but Meg still caught it

" Are you alright?" She asked

" Ya ya I'm fine, don't worry about me" I said holding my stomach as the pain is still there now

" What happened to her?" Tyler's voice came from the end of the hall

He came running towards us, " nothing nothing" I said before anyone could say anything

" You're so irresponsible, you didn't asked us to call the doctor, c'mon let's get you checked now" Tyler and Megan helped me to my room

Meg had a guilty face and Tyler looked really angry and panicked, that's when I noticed something
