chapter 17; break up, make up
_____

Julie

"I'm going out for dinner with my Mom tonight," I told Stella, who was on the other line of the phone. "I can't come with you guys. I'm sorry."

Today was Friday and I was getting ready to hang out at Luke's house. I knew that lying to Stella about where I was going was not something I should do but how was I supposed to tell her about my plans tonight without being in trouble and getting everyone mad?

"Okay, okay. It would be cool if you could come though, hanging out with the whole squad again because for once we all are together again and you could finally talk to Justin and end this whole thing because it's getting really annoying," she said to me. "You two are worse than Chaz and I and you guys are not even together."

I laughed at that and agreed silently with her because in some way she was right. "I know but I can talk to him tomorrow or on Sunday or Monday. I'll talk to him, Stella. I promised remember? And we all can hang out tomorrow. I mean it's still the weekend," I said back. It was not planned to drag the fight out for so long but Justin and I didn't really get a chance to speak after our last conversation at the beach so that was still on my to-do list. What was also on my to-do list was me seeing Luke today so I focused on that for now.

"Yeah, you're right. Julie, I gotta go okay. I'll text you later and have fun tonight with your Mom, tell her I said 'Hi'. Love you."

"Okay, I will. Love you too," I said before the line went dead and I continued getting ready. I took a look at the two outfits on my bed and tried to decide which one would be the most appropriate for tonight. I decided to go with the denim playsuit that I had recently bought so I quickly put it on and then I continued with my make up before I did my hair quickly and after an hour I was finished with everything.

I was very excited to see Luke and get to know new people. I only hoped that they were going to like me and that I wouldn't be too uncomfortable for the whole time I was there.

I took all my things and walked downstairs to look for my mother, who was going to drive me to Luke's house. He asked if it was possible to get a ride to his house so that I could drink and he wanted to drive me back later and because I couldn't ask my friends, my mother offered to drive.

I found her in the living room and she was ready to go so we left the house together and got into her car.

"Where are you exactly going again sweetheart?" my mother asked me while she was driving.

"To a friend's house. His name is Luke. He is your boss's son by the way so maybe you might know him," I told her.

"Oh really? I remember meeting him once at the office but it was just briefly. I didn't know you were friends."

"We have known each other for two weeks, he's going to my school. He's a really nice person, I really like him even if everyone else doesn't," I said.

"Why do they not like him?" My mother looked at me when she asked me that question.

I shrugged before I spoke up. "They say he's a bad person but he doesn't seem like that. To me, he's very amazing." I didn't want to tell her everything I heard about him so far because I didn't want her to think too badly about him already and most likely she would turn the car around and drive me back home if she knew everything.

"Okay, so just be careful around him then. There will be a reason why they are saying all these things," my mother said to me and I said that I would and changed the subject after.
