"Why can't I stay with dad?" Kyle asks. "I chose to date her. I invited her to spend spring break in Lilac Valley."
"It's for the best," Amber says.
"Am I ever going to see dad again?" Kyle asks.
"At the wedding," Amber replies.
"I'm an adult," Kyle says. "You can't control me."
"You almost got yourself killed," Amber points out. "You're not going back to Syracuse. You're staying here. You can transfer to Georgetown."
"Mom, this isn't fair," he says.
"Life isn't fair," she says. "You're still alive. That's all that matters."
"And Aunt Lila and grandpa are still out there," Kyle points out.
"Carter and Con will take care of it," Amber tells him.

"Hello Conleth," Lila says. "Thank you for meeting me here."
"I've never been to the mall after hours," Con says. "It's kind of creepy."
"I get the honor of killing you," she says.
"Not a chance," he says. "I brought back up." Clari and Elodie climb up the escalator.
"I don't understand," she says. Carter and Eddie climb up the other escalator.
"You're done," Con says. Lila runs. Clari is faster. "We find your father and this is over."
"There will always be an Anti-Magic Group," Lila points out.
"We need new legislation," Con says. "It's a good thing Secretary Li is running for president."
