Carter stands on a sidewalk in Chinatown, watching the Dragon come down the street.
Not a real dragon.
Real dragons are extinct.
So are unicorns.
He remembers when his parents used to take him to Chinese New Year celebrations when he was kid.
His mom hasn't done much of anything since his dad was killed.
"I miss this," Con says. Carter smiles. "Thanks for inviting me."
"Well, we are roommates," Carter says.
"You're a much better roommate than Eddie," Con says. "You don't point out all my mistakes or try to give me advice or..." He spots Amber. "Amber?"
"Carter, Isabella passed away," she says.
"What?" Carter asks.
"We found some old spell books, but if we don't find my mom, there's nothing we can do," Amber says.
