"Hey listen." I clasped his palms with him. "The world is beyond comprehending you. YOU, Arjun are the one of the sweetest, loveliest, generous and emphatic person I've ever came across. You understand everyone, and that's why they need you, maybe they don't understand you, but one they'll surely understand it. You have to stand by them. Your father will be proud of you, Arjun, one day. And never give up on your dreams, dreams are the only things in the humanity which gives us a reason to wake up next morning as we move towards them. Your father will tell you, his words would hurt you but he would never ever abandon you, because he loves you the most" Tears were almost brink of my eye.
Our emotional talks were interrupted by Alia who was waving at Arjun. It was surprising, what was she doing there, as she was having her Biology class.
Arjun swiftly wiped the tears clouded in his eyes and ran towards her. I looked at them from far, but what I apprehended, I doubted that we would never talk again.
Sarah who was finished arguing with her Monkey came and stood beside me. "What is she doing here?" She said looking at Alia.
Just like she, I was also wondering what was going between them.
Aditya seemed in joyous mood, as he, Alia and Arjun were laughing and Aditya nudging Arjun.
Alia and Arjun disappeared from our sight when Aditya patted on Arjun's back and winked him.
We stood there observing and analysing the situation. As Aditya came infront of us, Sarah yanked Adi's arm and he screamed, "What yaar Crocodile"
"Tell us, what was going between you guys" Sarah said sharply, Sarah was older than Alia by 11 months. Sarah was fast learner, so she skipped her Nursery. But she was also a protective and caring sister. Alia creates mess and Sarah clears it. Alia was the bubbly, fun-loaded girl, while Sarah was the possessive, Daredevil.
"Alia said ,she likes Arjun. So they are..you know." Aditya said
Sarah twisted his arm, and released it. He winced in pain and cursed her, "Crocodile! Drown in water"
She gave a devilish grin and was about to hit him, he vanished before she could hit him.
"Alia never said, she likes him" Sarah said contemplating on it.
Something tinged in my heart, I felt as if my heart was pinned by some sharp object. Our love possibility was hold off. A part of me didn't want to give up, I don't know why, It was telling that hold onto the hope that Arjun will love you someday. Hope only keeps you on pause, it doesn't change the truth. I somewhere believed that I had place in Arjun's heart, so I decided to tell him how I feel about him.
We had our chemistry class next, we were at the chemistry lab performing the experiments. Our Chemistry teacher divided us in two groups, I badly wanted to get myself with Arjun. My crooked fate has resentment against me, I never get what I desire..NEVER.
But this time wasn't. I was paired with Arjun. After listening to the instructions carefully, we headed towards the table where laboratory equipments were placed. As Arjun wiped the test tube, I looked here and there, and observed the chemicals in the container kept inside the transparent cupboard. I looked at the Hydrochloric acid and brooded what might happen if I poured it in public space. Spare my, vacuity thoughts. The smell of the chemicals was pleasurable, satisfying my senses.
He held the test tube with test tube holder and added zinc granules in it. I focused back on the experiment we were performing and I poured the dilute sulphuric acid in it.
"I have to tell you something Arjun" I spoke as I placed the test tube on the wooden desk.
"Okay, Say" He said nonchalantly, stirring the mixture with the glass rod
"I am...."
He cut off my words."You were right. I should stay by my loved ones side. I understand them, and they need me"
My thought of confession got blocked by my sentiments. I didn't want to be a obstacle in the path of his happiness. He was happy now, and who was I to take that from him. I repressed those feelings, to whom no one gives a damn.
"Shayad kabhi kehsakun main Tumko, Kahe bina samajh lo tum Shayad Shayad mere khayal mein ik din Milo mujhe kahin gum Shayad"
Maybe One day, I would tell you. What does it felt like to be with you. Or maybe it would be never too late.
I walked two steps away from him, stood near the corner of the lab and wiped away the tears of no regret without getting noticed. But nonetheless, Sarah caught me. She strode towards me.
"What happened? Why are you crying?" She asked
"Nothing. Something went in my eye" I fake smiled
She huffed at my lie, "You are such a terrible liar"
I know I was.
"Tell me what happened" Her voice became stern.
"I was just recalling those moments. Nothing else" I said as my lips curled in a smile.
It was my first plausible lie, Sarah squeezed my arm, and gently patted my back. "It's okay. We are friends, we will hold each other's back together"
"Yes" I chuckled, as tears were again forming in my eyes.
Love also means acceptance, accepting others as they are. We need to believe that neither our life not our choices work according to us.
