Years of regret and half hearted happiness has came to an end. The love I wanted to cherish in my adolescence is in right in front of me. I couldn't stop thinking about how pleasant my life would be, I could undo all the mistakes on my side, but life is unfair. It does give us second chances on cost of something and this time the cost was our dreams and ambitions. We could've even sacrifice our dreams for our love; but we both knew it would be foolish to do so.
We don't want a epic love story like Romeo and Juliet, for people to remember us, we wanted peace, happiness and love for ourselves.
That was how, my story at Sarah and Adi's wedding was unfolding.
"Naina. I..." Before he could complete his sentence, I wrapped him in a hug. I looped my arms around his torso tightly. He hugged me back, it was our first hug and I felt tranquil in this state. I wanted to remain in this position more longer, but we immediately withdrew ourselves, but I didn't regret it later, it was a friendly hug.
"It's been so long. How are you? " I uttered without fumbling, trying to control my tears. It was a informal reunion and formal conversation.
"Great. How are you?" He asked, both of us tried our best to no to be awkward.
"I am also great. Nice to see you again"
Even if we liked each other, and we were friends during our teenage days, we were having a conversation like strangers and acquaintances.
He moved his gaze to mine and we locked our eyes at each other for a moment, until Arjun and Jai broke the silence and we moved our heads towards them.
"Hey Arjun. You came?" Adi shouted and side hugged him.
"How could I've missed your suicide mission!" Arjun said, it had to be a joke. I thought.
Jai and Arjun knocked their fists, a sign of brotherly bond I took it as my cue to leave for the better. Before leaving the bar, we looked at each other and smiled. That smile was a display of warm affection and love, that smile made my day more brighter.
I took a long nap before Sarah's bachelorette party preparation began. It was like 5 am and Sarah was banging on the door, I opened the door as my ears couldn't tolerate more noise.
I was yawning and in a drowsy state, I pounced on the bed. I tried to sleep, but all in vain and I ultimately woke up and listened to Sarah, who stood near the dressing table, arms crossed on her chest and observing my behavior. Obviously, she knew I wouldn't sleep, even if I try to it would be useless.
"Okay. You win!" I sighed and groaned, knocking my head on the pillow.
"We are going shopping today for the Bachelorette party and for other functions as well." Sarah walked towards my bed and sat beside me.
"You didn't do wedding shopping" I asked her.
She nodded her head negatively and frowned. I looked at her dejected face and kept my arm around her shoulder, to rest assure her
"It must be the work load. Hey, take a chill pill. We are there for you, even if my choices are shitty, the girl group is a pro"
Her lips curled into a smile, "Thank you" After a one minute pause, she said. "So, you met Arjun last night?"
"Pretty much." I smiled sweetly, casting a crimson shade on my cheeks.
"Oooh, Blushing" Sarah nudged my arm.
I smiled faintly and deviated the conversation. "Okay. Can we wake up the other girls"
Soon, we were in a light blue colored Mercedes Benz Convertible Car. Sarah was in the driver's seat, I was in the front passenger seat and Alia,Divya and Siya were in the back passenger seat. We were in the way to the nearest shopping mall, while on the path, we crossed the enchanting architectural buildings, Basilica of Bom Jesus, surreal greenery and coconut trees on the periphery of the beaches. Cool breeze swaying my charcoal hair strands, I took out my sunglasses and placed my head on my right arm, leaning to my right side. I closed my eyes to enjoy the present moment.
