Things had gone by smoothly over the next few weeks. I had become close with Donna, who invited me over all of the time for dinner. I always brought something because I knew they were struggling. Jax and I hadn't talked much, which was fine. I knew he had lots on his plate and with his son in the hospital, it gave him lots to deal with. I had become friends with Opie through Donna, Half-Sack, as well as Juice. Bobby, Tig, and Piney still had issues with trust, which was fine. Chibs and I had become close but in this case, he was more of like a father figure.
Gemma was a whole other story, she was weary of me but seemed friendly enough. I had Sunday and Monday off. I had began hanging out at the club on days off just because they had become friends. David and I hadn't talked which made me happier as days went on.
I was hanging out with Juice at the picnic tables when Jax and Opie walked out of the clubhouse. "What are you doing here, Hadley?" Jax questioned.
"I have no friends." I laughed, "You're all I got considering I'm probably a complete bitch to everyone else."
They all chuckled slightly, which made me think I wasn't welcome when not working. "Oh I'm sorry, I guess I never really asked if it was okay. I can go if you'd prefer I didn't hang around here?"
Opie and Jax looked at each other and shrugged. "It's fine. We just didn't think you'd want to."
"You guys are actually really nice. Feels like a real family. Not that I'm part of it but you guys anyway.." I began to realize how stupid I sounded. "I'm going to shut up now."
Juice began laughing. "You're so stupid."
"Fuck you mohawk. I'm not stupid, you're stupid." I argued with Juice. Jax and Opie looked back and forth in-between us, they seemed very amused.
"Are you guys going to date?" Opie questioned. Juice and I looked at each other and began laughing.
"No! He's like the annoying brother I never asked for." I told them, with tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.
"Yeah seriously, that is never going to happen."

I was sat at the picnic tables when Gemma and Jax walked by, both giving me a wave. I gave them a wave back but as Jax walked away, I checked him out. He'd never go for a girl like me though. I was opposite of what he wanted.
"I didn't think you'd be into Jax." Opie said, appearing from behind me. My hand went to my chest as he startled me.
"Jesus christ, Ope, you scared me." I said. "I'm not into Jax. He's hot but I don't like him."
Opie smirked at me but nodded. "Sure."
I had to be honest, I think I was trying to convince myself as well as Opie. That night, I rode home and as I got there, David sat at my door. I rolled my eyes. I had no idea what he thought he was doing, but I wanted nothing to do with him or Jacob.
"Hadley. You haven't answered my calls." David said with slight anger in his tone.
"I haven't answered your calls because I didn't want to talk to you." I said void of emotion.
He seemed to deflate a bit at my comment but continued to try and talk to me anyway. I unlocked my door and was about to step inside when he grabbed my arm. "Hadley, you're my baby sister. Jacob told me you got involved with the Sons. That's not good. You need to stay away from them."
That comment angered me. "I don't care that you're my brother. You or Jacob have no reason to tell me what to do anymore. We're not a family and we never were." He let go of my arm and I walked into my apartment and slammed the door in his face.
The next day, Juice called me from TM and said that David had shown up and was questioning them about me. I got ready and headed there as quickly as I could. When I got there, David was standing in front of the picnic tables questioning the club. "David, what the fuck are you doing?"
The anger was so prominent, David's jaw dropped. "Hadley, you have no idea what you are getting into with them. You need to stay away from them."
"Don't tell me what I can and can't do. Genetically, you're my brother, but we're not a fucking family. If I want to hang out with the club, then I'm going to. You aren't going to stop me." Taking a quick glance at the club, they all watched intently. They looked like they would stand up for me if I needed it.
"You're my little sister, you have to know, I'm only looking out for you." David thought he was trying to reason with me, but he was only trying to protect himself and the Hale name.
"I'm not your family. You're not looking out for me. You're trying to control me. Don't want someone to tarnish the Hale name, but I'm barely a Hale. Get the hell out of here and leave the Sons alone." When I went to walk away, he grabbed my arm and I lost it. "Get your fucking hands off of me!"
He let go immediately but the hurt on his face remained. "Hadley, I'm sor-"
"Sorry? These are the only people who have shown any interest in me at all! Everyone else avoids me like the god damn plague because of you and Jacob. I want to know what it's like to have people who actually give a shit about me. I know for a fact you don't and neither does Jacob. So just go! Just leave and don't fucking come back because I'm not going to let you pull me away from the only people who care." I turned around and walked over to the club. Juice and Opie stood beside me. They were staring Hale down. Hale left shortly after that.
"Jesus." Gemma said, she was the only one who broke the silence.
"Yeah, my blood relatives and I have a fucked up relationship. It's barely there." I said trying to laugh it off.
"Well, bright side, I trust you now doll." Tig said and that made me a little upset.
"Glad it took me screaming at him to leave me alone for you to trust me." Tig looked apologetic but said nothing else.
"Look, over the past few weeks, you've shown the club great loyalty. You are our friend and we do want you around." Clay said and I nodded. I had waited so long for someone to say anything like that. I felt my eyes tear up and I couldn't stop from crying.
So then I decided to make a joke so I could stop crying, "And this crying is because of daddy issues."
Juice and Opie snorted before starting to laugh. The club followed suit and began laughing as well. Gemma looked like she was about to say something but I said something first, "Don't say anything too sweet to me or else the mommy issues might come out too."
Gemma started to laugh as she gave me a side hug.
