Juice did a full look up on Brad Stevens but nothing came up. Not even a social security number. I began getting worried, but Gemma's dinner was tonight and then Abel was coming home tomorrow. I had planned to move all of my things into Jax's so I could be there for Abel. Jax was going to have Happy stay with us for a while since the stalker is still out there. We made our way to Gemma's for dinner on Jax's bike and Donna and Opie followed on his bike.
When we pulled up, most of the guys had already arrived. We walked inside and I asked Gemma if there was anything I could do to help and again, she told me to go and sit down. I sat there with Jax, joking around with all the other guys. My phone rang again but this time I didn't leave the table. "Hello?" I asked with a smile.
"Hey Hadley, I just wanted to apologize for how I've treated you." Jacob said. I raised my eyebrow.
"Why? You've never cared, why now?" I questioned.
"Your stalker is going to kill me." My face went blank for a moment and I thought about it for a moment.
"Good riddance." I stated as I hung up.
"What's up?" Donna questioned me.
"Stalker is being useful for once." Everyone just stared at me with their eyebrows raised. "He's going to kill Jacob, if he hasn't already." I shrugged as I grabbed my beer and took a swig.
"You're not upset?" Tig questioned.
"Bitch got what he deserved. Hell, if you guys wanted to do it, I'd probably do it for you." I relaxed into Jax as he put his arm around me.
"Dinner is served!" Gemma and Luann came into the dining room, holding onto dishes of food. We all ate like one big family. I was overjoyed that Opie and Donna came without me threatening them. I think she was really starting to feel okay with the club. I was really happy.
"Hadley, do you remember the first thing I said to you?" Gemma questioned me. That got all of the guys attention.
"A Hale isn't likely to be hired here?" I questioned her with a smirk. She laughed. "How wrong were you?"
Everyone cracked up laughing. "You guys would be lost without me. I'm a god damn delight." I laughed at myself and everyone cracked up laughing as well. As we wrapped up dinner, I helped Gemma and Luann clean up all of the dishes. This dinner ended up being a success. Jax and I went home that night with excitement. One more sleep and Abel was coming home. As we pulled into the driveway, I got off Jax's bike and made my way up to the door. I unlocked it and went inside. I did a bit of a clean up so all I'd have to do is decorate tomorrow. I knew Wendy would be coming tomorrow so I did up the guest room just in case.
I was so excited that he was coming home. Jax stood there watching me get everything ready for a few minutes. "Why are you doing up the guest room?" He questioned me with his eyebrow raised.
"In case Wendy needs a place to stay. She messed up and I get that, but she's still his biological mother and she went through the full rehab. She deserves to meet her son and be there for his homecoming. She's doing right by him." Jax nodded and smiled, pulling me into his arms and kissing me softly. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer as we kissed. When we pulled away, I finished getting the guest room together and then we went to bed.
It took so long for us both to fall asleep. We were too excited about Abel coming home. The next morning, our first stop was the club house. We had to get one of the extra vehicles on the lot to pick up Abel in since I just had my bike and so did Jax.
Gemma hugged me a little tighter when we got there. "I'm so excited he's coming home today!"
"Me too momma." I said with a huge smile.
"I'll be over later to help decorate." She said smiling.
"Awesome!" I said. I noticed Donna and Opie pull onto the lot and that made me smile a bit bigger. I sprinted over and pulled Donna into a hug and then hugged Ope as well. "I'M SO FREAKING HAPPY ABEL IS COMING HOME!" I couldn't contain my excitement. I heard Jax and Gemma laughing at me as they strolled over.
"I can't wait to meet him." Donna gushed. It gave me so much happiness that Donna would be there to help me with the ins and outs of being a parent. No matter how much excitement there is, there is also nerves. And that's when I blurted out, "Oh fuck, I'm going to be a step mom."
What if I can't get him to stop crying? What if he tells me to fuck off as a teenager? Jesus Christ this is scary." I babbled until Ope shoved me to shut me up.
"Jesus Hadley. Everything is going to be fine. You're going to make a great mom." Gemma said causing me to stare at her.
"Holy shit sticks, I'm going to be a mom." I said as Jax laughed at me.
"Babe, Abel is going to adore you." Donna said. I grinned at her language.
"Babe?" I raised my eyebrows as I still had a shit eating grin on my face.
"Oh shut up, you call me babe all the time!" She shoved my shoulder.
I looked up at Opie. "I'm stealing your wife." He started laughing and shoved me as well.
"I know, it's painful!" I said as I touched his shoulder in comfort as everyone cracked up laughing. "Let it out." I continued.
"Wait, do I still get Jax?" I questioned.
"No, I get Jax." Ope said, trying not to laugh.
"Well fuck. My plans have changed. I suppose you can keep your wife for now until I figure out how to keep Jax and steal your wife." That's when I cracked up laughing. We then had to head to the hospital for Jax to sign some papers and then later that day, we could take him home.
After Jax signed papers, he had to go deal with some club stuff so Donna, Gemma, and I spent the afternoon decorating. When Jax, Abel, and Wendy finally made it through the door, I felt my eyes well with tears at how happy I was that Abel was finally home. Jax looked up at me and tilted his head in confusion.
I shook my head for him to drop it. "What's wrong?" He still asked.
"I'm just so happy Jax." He kissed my forehead and a small smile graced his lips. Wendy seemed confused so I went over to introduce myself.
"Hi, I'm Hadley." I held my hand out for her to shake. Everyone watched the exchange to see what was going to happen.
"Wendy." She said, eyeing me up.
"Look, I'm not sugar coating shit. I'm Jax's old lady. I know you're Abel's mom and I will never try and take that from you. I stand with Jax. It's his son so no matter what, Abel comes first. If you have a problem with that, fine, but we take it outside away from Abel." I stated. I stood my ground.
"Nope. We're good here." Wendy said and I nodded and walked over to Happy who had Abel. Jax sent me a smile. Gemma looked proud. It was a couple hours before people started to leave. Donna, Opie, and the kids ended up staying later than anyone. However, Gemma, Clay, Chibs, and Happy stuck around for a while. We sat around for a while just chatting as Donna and Gemma took turns holding Abel. Gemma went and put Abel to bed but we sat around chatting for a while when I heard Abel start to cry. I got up and the stalker was casual as you like, strolling down the hallway with Abel in his arms.
"No! You let him go!" I shrieked. This alerted Jax, Clay, Opie, Happy, and Chibs. Donna kept the kids away while Gemma stayed with them.
It was a small hallway but all of the guys shoved their way into the hallway.
"All I want is you Hadley. They can have Abel." He stated calmly.
"Fine! Fine! Take me instead. Just give Abel to Jax!" I was hysterical. The guy slowly and carefully gave Abel to Jax and that's when the guy grabbed me around the neck. Jax was furious as the stalker back out of the house with me in front of him. He was blocking the view so he could escape with me.
"I swear, I'll find you Hadley." Jax called out.
"I know. I love you Jackson." I felt tears slip down my cheeks and before I knew it, the club was getting smaller as the guy drove away.
