My Only Sunshine

Chapter 47

It had been a couple weeks since Half-Sack had died. Things were pretty crazy around the club house so I had chosen to hang out at the house and give Neeta a few days off. I was now 32 weeks pregnant. I had Abel on my hip as I picked up laundry and threw it in the basket. My phone rang and I went and got it. I answered with a short, "Hello?" 

"Hey, we are adding a few more prospects, we want you to come and meet them." Jax stated as other guys chuckled in the background. 

"Alright, I'll be there shortly. I'm bringing Abel by too." 

"A'ight babe, see you soon." Jax said as the call ended. I got ready and I got Abel ready too. I got him in the car and I got myself in. I drove to the club house. As I pulled in, I saw all the bikes and I smiled. I was excited to see everyone. 

I got out and got Abel out and carried him inside. I went inside and everyone was standing around drinking. I saw a big guy with curly red hair, a shorter guy with red hair, and another guy with brown hair sporting the new prospect kuttes. "Damn she's hot. What I wouldn't give to have her underneath me." The brown haired guy said. I felt my eyes well with tears at the thought. It brought back every rape I've ever endured. I pushed those feelings back so I wouldn't seem weak when I finally got to Jax. Jax immediately took Abel when I got over to him. In fact, Abel made his rounds and while all the club members while Jax kissed me. I held onto him a little tighter. I'm sure he didn't notice. 

He brought me over to the prospects while Donna had Abel. Donna was spending so much time with the club and it made me smile. Things had certainly changed for her and Opie. They are trying to catch up on bills and I think it's actually working. 

"This is Miles, Phil, and Shepard." Jax stated, making sure to seem stoic, how the prospects usually saw the members. 

"I'm Hadley, Jax's old lady." I saw, who I learned to be Shepard widen his eyes but they went back to normal so quickly. 

"I want all of you to know that, she's pregnant. If something is happening with my wife, I expect you call even if she tells you not to." Jax gave me a side eye and usually I would protest but I gave him a smile. He knew something was up at that moment.

"Understood boss." Phil stated. I walked away from the guys and back to my son. 

"Hadley!" Jax called. I turned to him and he gave me the 'what is happening' look. I hugged him tightly without saying a word. 

"What's going on?" He questioned, using his words this time. 

"I just missed you, is all." I semi lied to him. I held him tightly as I stewed in my emotions. 

"Whatever you say babe." He held me and I stood there for a moment before I headed back to get Abel. I was hoping to be out of this place quickly or as quickly as I could anyway.

"Hadley, can't you stay for a while?" Donna questioned. I thought about it as everyone was staring.

"Please!" She exaggerated her please, "I want to be able to see my nephew!" Donna batted her eyes at me. I sighed at her.

"Donna, I have lots of stuff I need to get done at home! I've got laundry and cleaning and Abel needs a nap." I tried to get out of staying.

"Babe, stick around. We can have the prospects work on the nursery and clean the house if it'll ease your stress." Jax prodded.

"I don't really want anyone going through my underwear but nice try." I stated, as I crossed my arms at him.

"Yeah, I'd be up in that." I heard Shepard joke. I turned and stared at him.

"The fucking jokes you keep making about me, need to fucking stop. You won't need to worry about your VP because I'll fucking kill you. In no fucking universe should you be talking about someone's wife, the way you are talking about me. I've had enough of men sexualizing me." I snapped at him. "Do I make myself fucking clear, prospect?"

He gulped as he responded with a short and quick, "Yes ma'am." If looks could kill, not only would I have killed him but so would Jax.

"I'm going fucking home, Jackson." I snapped at him as I gently took Abel from Donna. I went outside to the car and got Abel buckled in. I was about to get in when Happy came outside to get me.

"It's not Jax's fault. Please don't take shit out on him like that." Hap reminded me. I sighed as I leaned into the car and turned it on for Abel.

"I know, I'm sorry, I just don't want to be talked to or about like that anymore." I closed the door as I talked to Happy. He nodded in agreeance.

"I get that. It makes sense. As a prospect, those words never should have come out of his mouth." Happy agreed with me.

"I just want someone who doesn't fucking know a god damn thing about me to shut the fuck up and not say anything, you know?" I told him as I felt the baby kick. I put my hand on my baby bump to get him or her to calm down. I noticed Jax ran outside and Happy touched my shoulder to comfort me before heading inside.

As Jax passed by Happy, they gave their nods of acknowledgement and Jax stepped in front of me. "Hadley," he started, but I cut him off.

"I know, Jax. I'm sorry for being snippy with you. I'm just tired of being treated like a piece of meat. Especially now that I'm pregnant." I told him, sighing as I did so. He touched my shoulders and his hands slid down my arms as a sign of comfort.

"No need to explain, Darlin." I smiled at his use of words.

"I'm so lucky to be with you." I muttered, losing myself in his eyes.

"I'm sure it's the other way around." He said with a grin.

"We should actually talk when you get home, okay?" I told him, even though I only meant to talk about the college thing, it sounded a little more serious than I meant it to.

"Should I be worried?" He questioned with an accompanied eye brow raise.

"No, you shouldn't." I reassured him.

"Alright then, Darlin. I'll see you at home. I'll be home for dinner." I smiled at the thought.

I got in the car and headed back to the house.
