The next morning, Jax had gotten up to get ready for the charity run to Eureka. I got up and got ready while Abel was still asleep. I was up and ready when Jax was going through his dresser grabbing some clothes, but he stopped and looked at me as I clipped a necklace around my neck.
"What's up babe?" My voice was soft. A smile graced his perfect kissable lips.
"Come here." He beckoned, which my body responded to immediately. My feet moved to stand me in front of him. I wrapped my arms around his neck while his hands found my waist. "I love you." He said softly. I kissed him, wanting to take the few moments we had to undress him again and have some intimate time before he heads up on the run. As we broke apart, a subtle 'I love you' made its way out of my throat.
At that moment, Abel began crying. "My boy, the master of timing." Jax chuckled which caused a laugh to escape my throat. I turned my body to go and get Abel but Jax pulled me back into him and kissed me again and when he pulled away, he said, "I'll get him." Jax walked out of the room and I couldn't help but feel lucky. I was Jax's old lady and Abel's step-mom. He stalked up the hallway with Abel in his arms as I stood there.
"What?" He questioned curiously.
"I'm happy, that's all." A smile now graced my lips and he returned it as he talked to Abel and walked to the kitchen. I finished packing his bag and brought it out to the front door. I made my way back into the bedroom to grab his kutte and bring it to him. He had put Abel in his highchair and began feeding him some oatmeal.
That morning would turn out to become one of the most calm. The day turned to hell after Jax and the guys left for Eureka. I spent the morning with Abel until Neeta came so I could get some running around done. As the errands took longer, it was after dark by the time I pulled into the grocery store. I parked in the back corner to keep my car from getting dinged. I regretted that as soon as I got out of my car. A group of men surrounded me before I could get back in my car.
"What do you want?" My voice sounded strong but I wanted to curl up and die.
"We want your old man to stop selling guns to colour." One of them said.
"They are just Harley enthusiasts, I don't know what you're talking about." I thought I did a pretty good job at playing dumb. One smacked me across the face. My head whipped to the side.
"Bitch, I know you're lying. I want you to remember what we did to Gemma Teller. That will happen to you if you don't deliver the message. I'd love to have my way with you. I'm sure my boys would too." I could hear the smirk in his voice. He was excited about it. He nodded to his buddies who grabbed my arms and shoved me against the car.
The leader stepped forward and leaned toward me. His mouth by my ear. "I'd deliver the message to your old man or next time, your old man might not have a mother for his son." His hand groped my chest and I began to struggle.
"Stop struggling or I won't be able to control myself." He smirked as his hand travelled down to the button on my pants. He undid it and slipped his hand under my underwear. I felt the tears well in my eyes as he pushed his fingers in.
"Man, I kind of hope you don't deliver the message. Jax Teller is one lucky mother fucker. You are tight." His lips touched my neck and he began to kiss, suck, and bite. He left some hickeys behind, I'm sure. Then he pulled away and removed his hand from my pants.
They all left me standing there, shaking. I never had anyone use things like that against me that weren't my father or a stalker. And those people cared in a certain sense, they did but they didn't. These people were purely doing it to get what they want whether there was violence or not. Either way, I lose. I don't tell and they come back and rape me. I do tell and it pisses off Jax and quite possibly outs Gemma.
I did the button up on my pants and grabbed my purse from the ground. I realized that my wallet was open as I got back into my car. The picture I kept of Abel and I was gone.
I just drove back home and got inside as quickly as I could. I pretty much sprinted to the bathroom to check out the damage. My neck was littered with bruises and I felt disgusting.
I got my stuff and headed to the shower. I scrubbed myself raw. I knew Jax would be back tomorrow so I needed to figure out what to do before then. Once I was done in the shower, I did my best to put ice on my neck to help the swelling of the hickeys go down. The bruises I would have to cover up but I tried to get rid of them.
I sat on the floor in the bathroom for a while, just trying to figure out how to get out of this situation but it wasn't possible. I felt the tears seep out even though I didn't want them to and it that moment, with Jax not around, I had never felt more alone. I rested my head on my knees as I iced my neck and began sobbing into my knees. I sat there for hours, until I had to get Abel up to head to the clubhouse for the guys return. I got myself ready and made sure to cover the bruises because I still had no idea how to deal with what happened. Then I got Abel ready. Once that was done, we headed over to the clubhouse with minutes to spare. Gemma and Donna waited for their respective partners. When I got there, Donna eyed me up. She immediately knew something was wrong.
"Hadley, what's going on?" She asked but before I had to answer her, the clubs bikes rumbled down the street. I gave her an apologetic half smile but turned to face the gate. "We aren't done with this." Donna warned me. I gave her a subtle nod before averting my attention to Clay and Jax pulling in. Once everyone had their bikes parked, I let him say his hello's to Abel before he gently passed Abel to Clay and I almost knocked him over, hugging him.
"I missed you so much!" The emotion was clear but he just hugged me tighter. "I missed you too babe."
They went into church not long after. Donna and I sat at the picnic table when she began questioning me. "What is going on, Hadley?"
"Something happened. I can't tell you. The less you know, the better." I told her. She looked hurt.
"What, are you turning into Opie now?" I could hear her tone of voice change.
"Donna, no. Please don't do that." I begged her. "I can't lose you right now."
"Well, we don't keep anything from each other. Ever." Donna rolled her eyes and got up walked away, leaving me feeling worse than I already was.
"What's up with Donna?" Opie questioned with Jax beside him.
"I think I just lost her." I choked up.
"Over what?" I turned to look at them.
"Nothing. Don't worry about it. We'll sort it out." I tried to give them a smile but they just raised their eyebrow at me. I shrugged and got up. I wanted to tell them so badly, but I knew what would happen.
"I'll see you at home." I said to Jax and began to walk away.
