I don't know why the hell I feel guilty.

I did fuck all wrong today but my conscience is telling me something different.

I was just so pissed off and mad at myself for telling April I'd be there for her no matter what. I had to do something to erase it.

I first saw her heading into the pharmacy from across the street and deliberately bumped into her to find out what she was doing there. I couldn't believe it when she dropped her pregnancy test and it made me feel sick to my stomach.
The thought of April being pregnant by someone else fills me with absolute rage and I had to fight every urge I had to lash out when I first saw it.
She looked horrified when she realised I'd seen it and I could tell how frightened she was. My protective instincts kicked in straight away and all I wanted to do was take care of her and promise her that everything would be alright.
I was asking her to come back to mine before I knew it and was astonished when she actually said yes.

I was praying for the test to be negative the whole time we were waiting for the result, trying to mask my jealousy when I promised I'd stand by her. I couldn't believe the words coming out my mouth but what shocked me even more is how much I meant them.
As much as I despise April for running out on me and being with Finn, I still care about her. I saw how vulnerable she was and just wanted to protect her and keep her safe.
I can't describe the relief I felt when she told me she wasn't pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I was thrilled she wasn't going to have Finn's baby but knew I'd fucked up massively. I had to pull away from her or I'd mess up my entire plan before it even started.
I told April to stay where she was and slipped into my bedroom. I sent Miranda a quick message asking her to come over and meet me at my apartment.
It was calculating and cunning but I didn't care. All I knew was I'd let my guard down with April and I had to rebuild that wall again. She's fucked with my head so much in the past, it was my turn to fuck with hers.

I had to come up with an excuse to get April to stay so I told her I'd ordered a pizza. It was pretty lame on my part but Miranda turned up quickly which was a bonus.
I acted like I had no idea why Miranda had turned up and told April to hide in my bedroom.
"This is unexpected." Miranda greeted me warmly, smiling brightly. "You never call me in the middle of the day."
"I was missing you." I lied cold heartedly. "I had to see you."
"Oh, really?" She whispered softly, moistening her lips. "What is it that you need?"
She took hold of my hand and started leading me into the bedroom where April was hiding. I tightened my grip on her and pulled her towards me, making sure she didn't open the bedroom door.
"Not in there." I commanded roughly. "On the couch."
"The couch? You really can't wait to have me, can you?" She teased, unbuttoning her blouse seductively. "It's a good job I was willing to leave work for you, isn't it?"
"That's right. I can't wait." I barked gruffly, unzipping my jeans and yanking them down. "Take off your pants and bend over."
"Yes, Sir." She cooed gleefully, doing exactly what I said.
I made sure that April heard everything. It was the perfect revenge and knew it would kill her to hear me fucking someone else. The fact that she couldn't run away and had to endure it must have made it even more painful for her and that's exactly what I wanted.
"You better get going." I told Miranda after we'd finished, anxious to get rid of her and eager to get back to April.
"I don't need to. I could stay a little longer if you want me to."
"No, you should go." I insisted firmly, dismissing her without a second thought. "There's things I need to do."
"Why are you like this? Why do you always treat me this way after we have sex?" She asked me, her voice breaking as she begged for answers.
"It's all in your head." I told her. "You're imagining things."
"We both know I'm not. Please just let me in." She implored me, gently placing her hand on my arm.
"I need to call Billy." I responded icily. "I promised him I would."
"I can still stay."
"No, you can't." I concluded firmly.

Miranda finally left so I could stop the pretense and check in on April. I had no idea what state she'd be in when I opened my bedroom door but part of me knew she'd be completely distraught.
I told her it was Miranda who turned up unexpectedly and wouldn't take no for an answer. I saw the devastation on her face and how much she despised me for what I just did. She looked at me in absolute disgust and quickly realised I'd taken things too far.
She went on to say that she couldn't believe she once loved me and it fucking destroyed me hearing that. It knocked the air out of my lungs and made my heart shatter inside my chest. I was completely stunned by her revelation.
I know she meant every word of it and it felt like my whole world came crashing down around me in that moment.
I ended up telling her to get out before I broke down completely, struggling to remain composed in front of her after that.

I spend the next few hours debating what I should do next. A big part of me wants to reach out to her but the other half of me knows I have to play this the right way.
Revenge was the only reason I tracked her down in the first place. My one and only purpose was to destroy her life and leave her with nothing.
I still despise her for leaving me like she did and I still hate her for not giving me the chance to put things right. She has to pay for that. There's no other option.
I stole April's number out of Miranda's phone a few weeks back but know I can't just contact her directly. I've got to be much smarter than that.
I phone Miranda instead, clenching my jaw as the phone rings and I wait for her to
answer.
"Hey!" She gushes cheerfully, sounding a little breathless.
"Miranda, I need you to ask April and Finn if they want to do another get together soon. I feel like the first one was too awkward and it might be a good idea to try it again. What do you think?"
"I think that's really sweet of you but I'm afraid it won't be possible anytime soon." She informed me, failing to realise how on edge I am.
"Why not?" I demand harshly.
"I just got a call from Finn and he's really upset."
"Why? What happened?"
"April has left him."
"She's what?"
"He came home from work and found a note. Apparently she needs some space and she's gone back home to stay with her mum for a while."
"Are you serious?"
"Finn was really upset when he called. He doesn't know what to do."
"Why hasn't he gone after her? Why hasn't he gone to bring her back?!" I yell angrily, dragging my fingers through my hair as I pace back and forth.
"Because he wants to respect her decision and he's going to give her some space like she's asked for."
"He's a fucking idiot." I blurt out viciously, my voice dripping with contempt for him.
"Chase, don't talk about my brother like that." She chastises me, sounding frustrated.
"I'm sorry." I lie, trying to reign in my temper and keep calm.
"It's none of our business anyway. It's their relationship and it's up to them to sort things out between themselves." She reasons rationally, eager to change the subject.
"I guess."
"Anyway, can I come over tonight? I'm missing you already and wouldn't mind a repeat performance of this afternoon." She giggles flirtatiously.
"Not tonight." I snap brusquely. "I've got somewhere to be."
I hang up the phone before she has a chance to respond, taking deep breaths as I try and control my rage.

I don't move for what feels like hours, still trying to process what Miranda told me about April leaving.
I can't believe she's gone back home after all this time and can't help feeling responsible for it.
I also feel a pang of guilt because I realise I must have pushed her way too far this afternoon and forced her to run away again. Who the hell am I kidding? Of course I'm to blame for it and know my only option is to go after her and put it right.
This might be my one and only chance to speak to April alone and the fact that there won't be any interference from Miranda and Finn makes it even more tempting.
I suddenly kickstart myself into action and start speeding around the apartment like a whirlwind, grabbing a bunch of clothes as I shove them in a bag.
April ran away again but this time I know exactly where she is and she can't run from me anymore because I simply won't let her.
April is mine and it's time I fought for what I wanted.

I have to go and get her but this time... I'm never letting go.
