Iris POV

"Don't move, I will be back." Sam glared at me before exiting the car, slamming the door shut. I looked out the window, avoiding Mathew's eyes on me. He had been the one who kidnapped me, again. I couldn't believe that he had an alliance with Sam. I knew he was going to be pretty pissed, but not enough to work with Sam. Who in the right mind would do that?

"Would you stop glaring at the trees?" Mathews voice made me flinch. He was sitting right next to me, I guess to make sure I wouldn't escape. Not that I could go anywhere with the forest-like-field we were currently deserted in. I looked to my right and glared at him. His blue eyes I used to admire pierced into my dull brown ones. The Mathew from eighth grade and this Mathew were clearly nothing alike, except for the blue eyes. They seemed to stay the same.

"Is this better?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He cracked a small smile and nodded his head. "Take a picture, it will last longer." I rolled my eyes at his comment and looked back to the trees. I have been giving him small clipped answers. How was I supposed to talk to him when he was the one who kidnapped me?

"Look, I'm sorry. But think about it, your so called husband is about to marry another woman in hopes to save you. I don't understand why you would even want him after what he's done this time." Mathew put his hand on top of mine. I clenched my teeth in anger, pulling my hand off of his.

"He's doing it for my sake! He loves me! I love him! Do you really think he would do this willingly?!" I screamed at Mathew as he had a stoic expression on his face. My words didn't seem to affect him until I said I loved Xavier. He cringed and sighed while running a hand through his brown silky hair.

"You need to forget about him. He clearly still won't be with you, he will be with Carley. And as for your child, you could always give it to him. It's not like-" I stopped his talking when my hand came in contact with his cheek. The slap left Mathew fuming as he turned back, glaring at me. He pulled my hand forward as my body jerked forward as well. Our faces were inches apart as he still looked angry. I don't care. How dare he possibly suggest for me to just forget about this? And on top of that, give my baby to Xavier? Not happening. I would rather keep my baby and Xavier.

"Know your place, Iris. The position you're in will get you into deeper shit. Be with me, we can leave. I can take you away from here. As for the baby, Xavier can keep it. We can start our own lives, with our own family." Mathew pleaded as he inched closer to my face, our breaths mingling together. A silent tear escaped my eye as I shut my eyes in anger. Mathew was quick to wipe it away with a kiss to my cheek. It felt nothing like Xavier.

"Just let me go, Mathew. Please. This has gone on for too long. Find someone else, because I already have. And I won't just exchange my life with him for anything. You and I, we don't have that. We never will. You are my best friend, but I can no longer stand you, especially with this shit you pulled. It was never meant to work out with us so please, just let me go." Tears spilled out of my eyes as I mustered up my courage to finally tell him. He needs to understand I don't reciprocate his feeling, nor will I ever. Xavier's the only man for me. This friendship with Mathew and I may never mend, but maybe it's better that way.

"You're wrong, we will work it out, together. Sooner or later, you'll realize that Iris." He held my face in his hands, softly caressing my cheeks as I let more tears fall out from his words. There was no way to get to him, he was so adamant. "Mathew, I'm not the right one for you. Someone better will come around and change you completely. You will fall head over heels for her and-"
