Xavier POV

The pang in my heart blended in with the sorrow I was currently feeling. She's gone. I had her in my arms, her blood all over my hands, but at that point all I could think about was losing her. My worst fear, my weakness, the love of my life. Gone.

The moment seemed to go in slow motion, her blood dripping continuously as I rushed into the hospital filled with anxious doctors and nurses all around. They immediately rushed to take Iris from me without any further questions. I clenched my jaw in anger and backed away. They can't take her from me. I've already lost her twice, they will get her over my dead body.

"Sir, we need the patient." The doctor walked towards me in slow but steady steps. I pushed Iris's body further into my chest and felt her slightly breathing once again. I took a slow breath myself as relief washed over me.

She's still breathing. She's not gone.

"Sir! We need to take her to the emergency room before she dies from severe blood loss!" The doctors rushed and panicked voice made me realize that they were eagerly waiting for me to release Iris.

She may die from severe blood loss.

I panicked as reality finally set in. The doctors took Iris from my arms and placed her in a bed and wheeled her out of sight. I wasn't too far behind and followed them, right on their tails. One of the nurses pushed open the emergency door and they wheeled Iris into it and began closing it but I immediately stalked forward and pushed it back open.

"Sir, you cannot go in. I'm afraid you will have to wait for us to perform surgery on the patient. Please, stay in the waiting room." The nurse was about to close the door once again but I growled and pushed it open. It was hard to restrain myself from seeing Iris. I haven't seen her in three fucking weeks, not knowing if she was hurt or not. And now I finally get to see her, and she's at the brink of death.

"No, I need to see her. Let me-"

The nurse looked behind me and nodded her head. Before I had the chance to look behind, I felt an arm grip my shoulder and slightly pull me back enough for her to shut the door on my face.

"No! Let me see her! I need her! I swear if she dies I won't hesitate to kill all of you!" I growled and punched the door several times. I turned around and glared at the security guard who was already walking away from me. Bastard.

I would have shot him right then and there if I had my gun. Not only that, but I was in a hospital with other families and children around so it wouldn't be a pleasant sight.

I heard the cries of a toddler and looked to my right and saw a little girl looking at me with wide eyes and tears staining her face. My breathing was heavy as my chest was heaving up and down. The thought of having Iris in my hands made me weak.

I want her. I need her.

The toddlers bottom lip trembled as she looked around anxiously. Her feet were tapping on the marble floor that was illuminated by the crisp lights on the ceiling. Taking a long, deep breath, I scanned my surroundings. Not many people were in the hospital as it was a private one where the best doctors take speciality in. I took notice of my guards who nodded their heads at me and stood in front of the entrance.

"Are you okay?" I finally asked as my attention went back to the little girl. Her eyes widened as she realized I was talking to her. For a moment, it was just silent. The tapping on a keyboard, patients sobbing, and soft music was only heard in the hospital. It was a good distraction for the time being.

"I-I'm s-scared." She started to sob once again as I blinked in surprise. Seeing kids cry wasn't something I was used to, but now I would have to be because of my own child with Iris. The thought made me tense as I looked back at the door.
