Iris POV

I woke up in the same bedroom. Why was I here again? After all Xavier and I are engaged now. Yesterday was like a complete fairytale, I loved it. I sighed as I got out of bed.

Suddenly I had the urge to puke. I ran towards the bathroom and into the toilet. I puked as the bitter taste was tingling in my mouth. After a few minutes I cleaned up and brushed my teeth.

Why the fuck did I puke? Do I have food poisoning? I brushed the feeling off as I got ready. I took a shower and put my outfit on. It was fashionable but cute.

I headed downstairs for breakfast

I headed downstairs for breakfast. I saw Maria and immediately smiled. She always lightens up any room. "Good morning Maria," I greeted her. She turned around and smiled. "Goodmorning dear, how's your morning?"

I walked towards her and sighed. "It's been unusual so far," I replied looking down. "And why's that?" She asked turning her attention back to the breakfast. "C-can I ask you something?" Maria turned around and nodded slightly smiling.

"S-so this morning I woke up and had a weird feeling in my stomach which caused me to puke. Do you know why that is?" I asked hoping for an answer. She smirked at me and cleared her throat. "Did you feel anything else?" She asked.

I furrowed my eyebrows and shook my head.

"Did you eat anything unusual yesterday that caused you to feel this way? Or did you get your period yet?" I shook my head slightly nervous. Why was she asking these questions?

She laughed as she came closer to me. "Dear, I believe you are pregnant," she said with joy.

I blinked.

She stared at me searching for an emotion.

What?

I shook my head pulling back. "A-are you s-sure?" I asked hoping it wouldn't be true. I can't be pregnant.

"There's only one way to find out," she explained happily turning off the stove and dragging me into a spare bathroom. I bit my lip as she pulled out a pregnancy test. How does she even have that!?

"I'll leave you to do the work," she said leaving the bathroom and winking.

My mouth was wide open as I quickly gulped. What if I'm actually pregnant? I shook my head and looked at myself in the mirror. I rubbed my stomach as I shook my head again and took the test.

_

I flipped it over waiting for the result and opened the door so Maria could come in. "Did you take it?" She asked. I nodded as she was smiling at me. "Maria, why are you so happy?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows.

She smiled, "Dear, this tells me that you are special to Xavier and I've know that ever since the day you came."

I was still confused. "Why am I special? Is it because I will marry him?" I asked. She lightly chuckled as she patted my shoulder. "No dear, he had eyes on you from the very start."

What? What does that mean? I was going to ask her but she quickly turned me around to face the pregnancy test.

"Let's check!" I just shook my head smiling and turned it over. I picked it up in my hands and brought it closer to my face.

The silence made the situation even worse.

No, it can't be.

I blinked twice to see if it was true. I am pregnant!?

Maria squealed as she hugged me tightly. I hugged her back as tears were forming my eyes. I'm going to become a mother! I never knew that this day would actually come. She immediately congratulated me and was going to go tell Xavier.

I stopped her by holding onto her wrist. "Maria, I would like to tell him myself. I don't want him to know yet." I didn't want to tell Xavier yet because I wanted it to be special at the right time. Once we get to know each other better. She smiled and nodded.

"Let's go and eat breakfast! I want this baby to be healthy," she said dragging me into the kitchen. I laughed at her enthusiasm. I wish I could be this excited. I didn't want a baby, not yet. But I knew that over time I would agree to it and would have a connection.

I was sitting down as Maria was making eggs, veggies, and pancakes. I won't be able to eat all this. My mind drifted off to when Maria said that Xavier has had eyes on me this whole time. What does that mean?

"Maria when you said Xavier has had eyes on me this whole time, what did you mean?" She turned around confused.

"Hasn't he told you yet?" She asked. I shook my head confused. She sighed, "Dear I don't think it's my place to tell you."

Why can't she tell me?

Xavier suddenly came downstairs wearing an all black suit. It was simple but he still managed to make it look so sexy. I shut my mouth realizing it had been open this whole time. He looked over at me and smiled. He came over and lifted me up from my chair holding me bridal style.

This man has no shame!

He pecked my lips and smirked at me. "You look gorgeous." I blushed at the comment as he settled me down. "I see you're already bringing up breakfast," He said as Maria chuckled.

The rest of the time I enjoyed breakfast. The thought of me having a child growing inside me was driving me crazy. I wanted to tell Xavier right then and there but what if he doesn't want a child. He would just throw me out and I wouldn't have anyone to go to since my own father disowned me.

I wouldn't want to put a burden on Marcus and Olivia or Mathew so that wasn't much of an option. "Are you okay?" Xavier asked pulling me out of my thoughts. I nodded slightly smiling. Maria was cleaning up our dishes as we were finished with breakfast.

"We will be going to my company today. I want you to work as my assistant so you would get to know my world better."

"Sure," I answered brushing it off. Xavier wasn't satisfied with my answer so he took my wrist and pinned me up against the counter, both his arms were trapping me in on either side.

Maria took that as a cue to leave. Once she left I looked up confused at Xavier. "Are you sure you're okay? You don't seem like it," he snapped.

I looked down as he lifted my chin up harshly. I winced as he let go and sighed. "You have to work with me here Iris. I can't just read your mind."

I gulped and answered, "I-I'm just on my period." His eyes darkened but he then laughed and kissed my forehead. "Are you sure? It doesn't seem like it."

Doesn't he believe me?

"Iris, you're a really bad liar," he stated sensing my nervousness.

"What's the real problem? Why are you upset?" He asked again. "I'm not upset, I'm just a bit confused that's all," I replied trying to cover myself up. He sighed and nodded while releasing my hold. That was very nerve wrecking.

"Let's go then, it's time." I nodded as we both walked out of the penthouse.
