Iris POV
Her small fingers wrapped around my hand as she put a ring on my index finger. The only downside was that the ring wouldn't fit.
Nariah pouted and tried once again but no avail. She huffed and threw the plastic ring across the hospital room as it fell down on the polished floor with a clank.
My laughter bubbled out in the room and soon Nariah joined me. She had been trying to entertain me and put the ring on my finger for quite some time now but no success. Looks like defeat finally got to her. It was surprising since Samaiah told me how stubborn and determined she was but that seemed to vanish now.
"Stupid ring," she mumbled but kept playing with my fingers. I chuckled at her words but she seemed to not have liked that.
"Stop laughing!" Her shouts and grumbles made me cry out in hysteria even more.
The door opened to a worried looking Xavier and confused Samaiah. They went to go get us food while Nariah stayed here in the room to give me some company. That seemed to work very well.
"Is everything okay in here?" Samaiah asked and raised her eyebrows at Nariah. I stifled a laugh and Nariah gave me a glare. If looks could kill...
"Ivy can't stop laughing! It's like she has some type of problem. You were right mommy, she really does need rest." I gasped at the little girls words while I heard Xavier's small chuckles. Not only did she get my name wrong for the fifth time in the last hour, but she has the audacity to say I have a problem.
Xavier came up to sit beside me while showering my face with small kisses that made me sigh in content.
"Does it still hurt?" He asked while his voice was muffled from his face being buried in the crook of my neck. I shook my head as he sighed in relief.
I have been in the hospital for about a month now and Xavier became more paranoid. He made sure I never left the hospital bed unless he was there to help. Even when I would want to stretch and walk around he had to be there to make sure everything was fine. Although I admired his protectiveness over me, it did get annoying when I even had to get up to pee and he had to be there to help me up. I've become capable enough to get up myself in the past month but Xavier still didn't seem to think so.
He pulled away from the hug and gave me a heartwarming smile while giving me a peck on the lips. I looked around the room and noticed that Samaiah left and took Nariah with her.
"They are leaving to Seattle today."
I frowned at Xavier's words. He seemed to know that I wanted more information. "Samaiah originally moved there and although it's been nice having them here, she needs to go back."
I slowly nodded in understanding but couldn't help but still be a bit upset. It gets lonely in the hospital and although Xavier is here it still sucks to not have their company. Especially Nariah's.
"I know you will miss them but look on the bright side. You're going to be dispatched from here today and we can finally go home."
My face lit up and Xavier arched his brow. "Did you forget?"
I sheepishly looked at him and he rolled his eyes. "Let me guess, Nariah kept you busy."
Nodding my head, I kissed Xavier once again. This wasn't just a peck, it was slow and sweet. Allowing us to savor the moment a little longer. I can finally go home.

"I'll miss you guys!" I shouted towards Samaiah and she laughed. Nariah waved her hand vigorously and I smiled at the little girls excitement. She had pinky-promised me she would come back in a few months to visit and I agreed.
Xavier interlocked our fingers together and walked me back into the hospital room. He finally let me walk around myself but with him around me at all times, along with his most trusted guards.
It was still a bit annoying but it was a start. Once I can fully prove to him I'm fine only then will he listen. Actions speak louder than words, as Xavier told me.
Once we arrived in the hospital room, I felt a bit nostalgic. I've been in this room for my whole stay in the hospital so it was a bit sad leaving but I would much rather prefer to be at home in Xavier's bedroom. In our bedroom.
Obviously the operation room was not a real bedroom so Xavier ordered to have me get the best room in the hospital. It had a long, wide bed with a comforting glow from the window on the side. It seemed like a small suite compared to a hospital room. Little accessories that I didn't even need were placed on the other side with a huge light up vanity. I admired the fact that Xavier wanted to make me feel at home as much as possible instead of a hospital.
"We are packed and ready to go. Everyone's excited to meet you after all this time."
I smiled at Xavier's words and took one final look at the room before we left. He helped me get into the car and shut the door himself before going to the other side. One of his most trusted men were placed in front to drive as three other cars were behind us for more protection. One was already placed in front to lead the way. Xavier sat in the backseat with me as I cuddled up next to him while he wrapped his arm around me in a secure protective hold.
"Are my parents there?" I whispered against his chest. After finding out that Sam wasn't my real father it was shocking but relieving. I'm glad that despicable man is not my father. Yet I still don't know who it is, but I'm pretty sure I can take a wild guess. After all, there were only two men my mother had ever been with.
"Yes, they arrived as soon as they found out." Xavier responded while circling his thumb around my shoulder. It was nice to hear that they came.
Everyone must have already been informed of the burial happening as it will take place in about a week. Xavier wanted me to be fine physically and mentally and he helped a lot with that in the past month while I was in the hospital recovering. Having him by my side while mourning over the loss together definitely helped.
Though imagining the life we could have had seemed to weigh heavy on the both of us. Xavier's guilt, my sorrow, it blended in. It made us vulnerable, sad, hopeless of the upbringing of something new; something better.
Only hope consoles us that from now on things will turn out for the good.
