Chapter 5

Xavier POV

I was so nervous when I asked her over the phone. It was even worse when her father was testing me. My father uses the same methods to test the guys my sister brings home.

I didn't want to take her to a fancy restaurant so I thought just a dinner outside for the both of us where no one will bother us.

As soon as I get to my part of the forest I stop the car and we get out.

"We're in the middle of nowhere." She says

"Come on I know where we are." I say

"Is it far?" She asks

"No come on." I say and put my hand out for her to take. She takes it and I feel tingly all over.

I have never felt this before. It kind of feels nice.

I lead her through the trees and in a few minutes I see the lights. She picks up her pace and walks past me and gasps.

"This is beautiful. How did you find a place like this?" She asks

There is a perfect circle enclosed by trees. I hung lanterns on the trees, I brought us a table and two chairs, I decked the table and layed down a blanket in the middle of the grass with a few pillows and I just bought a few things for us to eat.

"I was 10 or 11 and I think my mother didn't want to buy me something so I ran away and I started running into the woods and I found this place. I stayed here for a few hours then I went home. My mother was so angry at me because I was actually gone for 4 hours." I say and She laughs.

Her laugh is really beautiful.

Annalise POV

This place is so beautiful, I've only seen places like these in magazines and movies. And when he held my hand it felt so good, his hand is far bigger than mine but still it just feels right.

"Are You hungry?" He asks

"Very lets sit." I say and take a seat on the comfy chair.

He walks over and picks up a basket that I didn't see. He places it on the table and takes everything out.

"Do you like sea food?" He asks

"Yes, what is your favourite thing to eat?" I ask az he sits down

"Anything that has chocolate in." He says. "And I can't even bake." He says and I chuckle

"You can buy the ingredients and I'll bake whatever you want." I say and he smiles

We eat in mostly silence as I try not to blush so much. The food was actually very nice.

"How old are you?" I ask. He looks older than me but not older than 27

"I'm 25, and you are?" He asks

"I'm 20." I say

"Is that a problem?" He asks and I look at him confused. "The agegap?" He clarifies and I think for a moment.

"No I don't have a problem with it." I say and he looks relieved

"Good, you know I really like you." He says and I blush and look away

"I like you too." I say

He places a finger under my chin and makes me look at him in those beautiful blue eyes.

"I know that we only met each other yesterday but I have never felt this way for anyone so will you be my girlfriend?" He asks

"Yes, yes I will." I say with a smile and he smiles too and shows his perfect pearly white straight teeth.

"I have a girlfriend." He says with a smile

I have a boyfriend.

"I've never had a girlfriend." He says

"Stop lying." I say and stand up and he follows me to the blanket. I take a seat and lay my head on a pillow.

"Sometimes I just want to come to a place like this and forget about everything bad that has ever happened in my life but that won't make the pain go away." I say

"What has happened that makes you feel this way?" He asks and lays down next to me.

"I'll tell you someday, can I ask you for a huge favour?" I ask

"Anything." He says

"Don't push me, if you want a girl that will do anything you want at the snap of your fingers that isn't me. Have patience and please for my sake." I say and blink away the tears

"I will never force you to do something that you don't want to. I don't want a girl that is like that I want a woman, a wife someone I can trust." He says

"Do you think I can be that for you?" I ask and look into his eyes.

"I know you can." He says and starts leaning towards me.

I lay very still and just look in his eyes.

"I want to kiss you." He says and I freeze.

Did I not just tell him to not rush me?

I close my eyes and wait for him to kiss me so that I can slap him but I don't feel anything on my lips.

What the...

I feel his soft lips touch my cheek and linger there for a moment before pulling away.

I open my eyes and look at him with a smile

"I won't rush you." He says and lays down.

The rest of the night goes by with us talking nonsense and getting to know each other.

Before I know it it's time for us to go back home.

He leads me back through the forest and back to the car and on the ride home I drift off to sleep.

Xavier POV

This was the best night of my life. I Xavier Elijah Knight has a girlfriend. Who would've thought

As soon as the car starts moving I glance over at Annalise and see that her eyes are closed. She must be tired let her sleep.

Something really tragic must have happened to her for her to ask me on our first date not to rush her.

She Will tell me and I will make then pay. Mark my words they will pay.

After a few minutes I pull into her driveway and get out. I open the door on her side and pick her up bridal style

She actually isn't that heavy.

She starts to stir as I walk up to the door and thats when she opens her eyes wide.

"I'm so sorry that I fell asleep. Please put me down I must be heavy." She says

"Its fine, you actually aren't heavy but I'll put you down." I say and let go of her legs and put her down.

"Thank you I had am amazing night." She says

"I enjoyed myself a lot too. What time do you get from work tomorrow?" I ask

"I get off at 8 everyday, why?" She asks

"I'm just asking. I'll call you tomorrow. You look tired sleep well." I say and place a small kiss on her forehead

"Good night Xavier." She says and yawns

"Go in and sleep. Good night." I say and she goes into the house with a small wave.

I get in my car and make my way home.

What an amazing night.
