"Backing yourself into a corner is a terrible strategy, in that it leaves you nowhere to run. But it's brilliant in that it brings out the fierce in you, because you are forced to fight."
(Jarod Kintz, 99 Cents for Some Nonsense)

"Well you tell me Mrs. President. Have you ever heard of The League of Villains?"

Keigo felt his heart freeze in his chest as Y/N uttered those words. In an instant he knew what Y/N's plan was, already regretting not flying off with her sooner. She was about to give herself back to the commission, back to the horror she had run away from-- and there was nothing he could do to stop her.

"The League? Of course I know them, I'm not an idiot. Are you saying you can get us information on The League? How?"

Y/N continued to step forward, closer to the Commission President as she ignored the daggers that Keigo was staring into her back. She knew he would have a few choice words to share with her after this, but it was the only way-- the only way she would make it out of this situation alive.

"As a matter of fact Mrs. President, they came to me just last week, offering for me to join their ranks. I told them I wasn't sure and they graciously gave me a week to think about it. Shigaraki was very intent on having me join-- I bet if I go back right now I'll quickly be welcomed into their ranks. I could get all the information you need."

Y/N let the lie slip off of her tongue like it was nothing-- another trick the commission had trained her to do long ago. She confidently kept the president's gaze, not wanting even a hint of her lie to show in her expression. It wasn't a complete lie at least-- they had invited her to join their ranks. She just needed to hope that Touya would believe her if she said she changed her mind-- if not, a death by fire was much better than whatever the commission would do to her.

Keigo held his breath as he watched the Commission President debate on what Y/N had just told her. Even though he knew it was a lie, Y/N's skills were so believable that she almost had him fooled for a second. He just hoped that she had the same effect on the Commission President.

"Of course they are recruiting you-- you were never suited to be a hero in the first place. A daughter of a murderer and a murderer herself. Who would ever root for a hero like that?"

Y/N bit her tongue at the Commission President's crude remark, not giving her the satisfaction of reacting. Keigo on the other hand felt his body shake with anger, using every fiber of his being to not pierce the cold woman's heart with one of his deadly feathers.

"I denied them at first because I came in contact with Hawks again. No matter how cruel you and the commission are, seeing Hawks thrive as a hero gave me hope again-- hope for the future. So I don't care what you think of me-- I know I could've been a great hero if you had given me a chance. But I'm done with that dream, so how about you take my generous offer? After all, using people is what the commission does best right?"

"And why should I believe you'll do our dirty work just like that? How do I know you won't just run off as soon as you get the chance, huh Birdie? After five years being presumed dead, you finally make an appearance. Was it just you that lived? Or did Endeavor's failure of a son live too?"

Y/N felt rage course through her veins at the President's words. It was because of her and that damn facility in the first place that Touya became what he is now-- but she didn't need to know that. If there's one thing Y/N does, she always keeps her promises. Dabi's identity is for him to reveal if he chooses-- it wasn't her place.

"If I wanted to run, I would be long gone by now. If I wanted to hide, there's no way you'd ever find me again. However, I made a promise to a certain hero that I wouldn't run away anymore-- that I wouldn't hide."
