"Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart."

"Come on Doll, we're going out."

Y/N looked up from her spot on the tattered couch, her crimson eyes dull to the world. Cerulean eyes shined back towards her in the darkness of the small room, determination set in them.

"I already told you Touya, it's too dangerous to go outside. What if someone recognizes--"

"They won't. No one is looking for us anymore-- at least, no one is looking for me."

Y/N sat up slowly, confusion filling her gaze as she looked towards her only friend in the world at this point. They had just recently escaped the commission's facility and managed to find this ratty old apartment to hide in for the time being. She felt pain shoot through her back at the sudden movement of her body, but ignored it as she stood up and faced Touya.

She could see the pity in Touya's eyes as he gazed at where her wings would normally be, but he said nothing of her recent cutting. He knew why she did it and he knew no matter what he said it wouldn't stop her. So instead, he chose to ignore it, signaling with his head for her to follow him.

"Touya, where are we going?"

"Just shut up and follow me. You'll see soon enough."

Knowing it was no use arguing, Y/N followed Touya outside. He led her to the motorcycle he had recently stolen, handing her a helmet.

"Get on."

Putting on the helmet, Y/N sat down behind Touya, wrapping her arms around his waist and holding on tight as she felt the motorcycle come to life beneath her, taking off quickly to wherever their destination may be. She watched with dull eyes as the night life of the city moved quickly around them. It was true she was finally free from the clutches of the commission, free from the pain they had caused her-- but she couldn't find it in herself to enjoy it. Images of vermillion flashed through her mind, vermillion and gold wings flying through the night with cerulean eyes looking up at them, annoyance in Touya's gaze, but a smile on his face.

That's what she had wanted, the three of them to leave that place together. However, there were no vermillion feathers around them that night-- and she knew she'd probably never see them again. She abandoned him without even a goodbye-- if she was him, she'd hate herself too.

"Hey, let go of me already. We're here."

Touya's raspy voice shook Y/N from her thoughts, quickly causing her body to separate from his, not realizing how tightly she had just been holding onto him. Shaking the embarrassment from her features, Y/N looked around surprised to find herself in a graveyard. She silently followed Touya through the dimly lit area, her mind growing with curiosity as to why he had brought her here.

"If you wanted to kill me, you could've saved me the trouble and done it back at the apartment."

"Shut up, you're annoying."

Y/N knew Touya was rolling his eyes at her comment which made her smile. That was the one thing she at least hadn't let the world take from her yet-- their banter is the one thing that kept her going. Silently, Y/N followed Touya until he abruptly stopped in front of what seemed like a newly dug grave, the gravestone looking quite fresh compared to the one's around it. It was when Y/N read the inscription on the gravestone however that her heart nearly stopped. She saw Touya clenching his fists at his sides as he reread the inscription for the hundredth time that day after he had found it.
