"I threw myself into that fire, threw myself into it, into him, and let myself burn."
(Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Thorns and Roses)

Blue flames, an unbearable heat, cold eyes.

"Touya, why? We only have one year to go till we become pro heros-- why now?"

Touya's deep laughter rang throughout the burning cafeteria, his arms raising as more fire shot out towards the walls of the crumbling building.

"Why? Come on doll I know you're not that dense. I told you last year, remember? I'll leave this place-- even if I have to become a damn villain in the process."

"Touya, don't do this. Think this through. Just one more year and the three of us can be free, we can get out of this hell hole. Do this now, and you'll be running from the commission for the rest of your life. Just come with me quietly, before they send more people in here."

"More people? Look around Y/N, no one else is coming. It's just me and you-- you know why that is?"

Y/N stood glued to her spot as Touya advanced towards her, his hands gesturing to the crumbling building around them.

"Because we're meant to die here-- me and you."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blue flames, an unbearable heat, cold eyes.

It was the same as that day five years ago, but this time it was real-- this time Y/N had to fight.

"A shield huh? Come on, fight me for real Doll! Or are you still worried about that injured birdbrain behind you?"

Keigo watched through blurred vision as Y/N formed her blood into a shield, blocking Dabi's fire in just enough time. He felt like a burden as he struggled to push his body off of the ground knowing he was only a distraction-- with him in the way, Y/N couldn't fight to her full potential.

Gritting her teeth, Y/N pushed back against Dabi's blow, the overwhelming heat coming from the other side of the shield making her head spin-- how the hell was she going to fight back while protecting Keigo at the same time? If she didn't think of something soon, they'd both be fucked.

"HAWKS!"

A flash of black entered Y/N's peripheral vision, the sudden appearance of a boy with the face of a bird catching her off guard. She could hear Dabi chuckle from behind the shield in front of her, his fire still pressing heavily against the wall of blood that was just barely protecting her.

"So they're bringing students into this too now huh? How pathetic."

Y/N's mind was reeling at the thought of who the student was when she remembered something Keigo had mentioned before they moved in with The League.

"Babybird, I got my first intern today!"

Y/N smiled as Keigo entered his apartment through the balcony like always, a grin on his face as he made his way towards Y/N who was cooking dinner for both of them in the kitchen.

"An intern? Poor kid, I feel bad for them already."

"Heyyyyy, that's not very nice. I'm the #3 prohero, who wouldn't want to intern under me? Besides, guess why I chose him!"

Y/N chuckled as she felt Keigo wrap his arms around her waist, his head leaning on her shoulder as he watched with curiosity as she prepared his favorite chicken for dinner.
