Persephone
I can't believe I'm lying to him, we just got married and I'm lying to him. There goes my wife of the year award. I know I should have told him the truth, but he would freak out if he knew what I was doing and who I was doing it with. It would crush him.
I love him but I believe that there is more to what he has been telling him and I am just about done with it. I want to know the truth, who is Hermes? What does he have to do with anything? Why is my mother such a threat? What have I gotten myself into? I need to know.
I make my way to Central Mall, checking the rear-view mirror and making sure that no one is following me. I get to the mall and park in the basement parking. Thanos had said that I should meet him at Starbucks because I didn't want to be alone with him in private. At least he's a gentleman.
I step out of the car and walk to the mall entrance; it seems to be a busy day here at the mall. I walk through the mall to the food court. I'm stopped in my tracks when I see Mama June, handing over a bouquet of lilies to someone outside the jewellery store.
Go and say hi.
No, I'm not doing that, after what she did to me, I don't think I'm ready for that.
I take a deep breath in and out and I quickly walk past the store, hoping and praying that she doesn't see me.
"Persephone,"
DAMMIT.
"Mama June, hi," I say turning around.
She gives me a warm smile, I could see the guilt in her eyes, maybe I'm being unreasonable, "It's been a long time, how are you? I heard you got married, congratulations."
I nod, "Thank you, I'm doing great, how are you and Papa June doing?"
"We are great," she says, tears besting up in her eyes, "We miss you Persephone, what we did was wrong? You were family and you still are we shouldn't have done what we did to you."
Oh crap.
"Mama June, I'm not mad at you anymore, you had your reasons and I respect that. You were doing what you thought was best for you and your family."
I step closer to her and look into her pale blue eyes, "I forgive you."
She sobs, I pull her in for a hug and she continues to cry, I gently rub her back to comfort her. A few moments pass and we pull apart. Her eyes are a little red, open up my purse and give her some tissue, she thanks me and takes it from my hand. She wipes her tears and blows her nose.
"I'm so sorry for being such a wreck," she chuckles looking away in shame.
"Hey, you're the one that told me that it's okay to cry, it's part of the healing process, we need to feel it out," I say rubbing her arm.
"Thank you, Persephone."
I smile, "It's okay Mama. I have to get going, I'll come to visit you soon okay, say hi to Papa for me,"
She takes my hand and kisses it, "I will baby,"
I walk away and carry on walking towards the food court. I walk into the abnormally quiet Starbucks and find Thanos sitting in a booth, in the corner of the room. He's not dressed in his usually flamboyant way, of floral Gucci suits and scarves. He's wearing a red silk shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans. His hair is messy but still looks neat, to be honest, he is one attractive god, now that I'm having a good look at him. He's chiselled jawline and five o'clock shadow, his pale skin in desperate need of some sunlight. Where does this guy even live?
"Persephone," he calls out.
"Thanos," I replied walking over to the booth, I remove my bag from my arm and place it on the table, "How are you?"
