Persephone

"I don't understand," I say, confused.

Hades sighs, "Babe, you're a goddess, the queen of the underworld, my queen, Persephone. Like my brother here he is Poseidon, God of the sea and Amphitrite his queen. We are Greek gods and goddesses."

I was speechless, "So you're telling me that I'm some goddess from god knows where and I'm your queen."

Hades nods, "Yeah."

"How? This makes no logical sense, I thought you guys were just myths, no offence," I say

"Well, we aren't, we've been waiting for a signal from the higher priests to tell us about you and when you entered my layer that night, I knew it was you, I just had to find a way to get you close," Hades explains.

So, he is the reason all these weird things have been happening to me. . .

"Honey, we know that this is a lot to take in but eventually it'll make sense," Fifi says with a smile.

I sigh, it was a lot to take in more than I could imagine. I have so many questions I do not even know when to begin.

"So, do I have like superpowers or something like that?"

Fifi nods, "You control the Spring season, you're in charge of anything that has to do with Spring, flowers, animals, weather, you have control over it"

Spring, is currently the middle of summer. So that means I am off duty, nice.

"What about you guys?"

"Fifi and I control anything related to the ocean or water," Don responds.

"So other gods and goddesses call you Poseidon and Amphitrite?"

"Most of them, yes, but humans call us by our earthly names Don and Amphitrite Jones," Don laughs.

I chuckle, "I'll stick to Don and Fifi."

"And you Hades?"

He blinks and smiles at me, "I'm the ruler of the underworld, Hades, I take care of the dead."

I tilt my head to the side, why did I find this so intriguing that he took care of the dead? I want to see him work

"And no, you cannot come to work with me," he says standing up.

I pout, "Hades come on."

"No Persephone," he says firmly, "You're not ready and besides it's dangerous."

"I like dangerous."

Don looks at me in disbelief but his face returns to it have a cold expression, "You are not coming to work with me until you're properly trained."

"Trained?"

"Doing what Hades does requires a lot of training, you don't want to do go off messing with the dead, it's dangerous," Don says.

I roll my eyes, "Clearly you underestimate me."

Don's eyes widen, "Spoken like a true queen."

"Babe, I love you and I don't want to throw you into wolves so quickly," Hades says, "Please trust me."

I nod, "I trust you."

He smiles and he stands up to hug me and kiss my forehead.

"We need to prepare for the ceremony, invite everyone so they know that the Queen is here," Don says excitedly.

Wait...

"What was that black water in the shower?"

"Just an accidental flow of water from the underworld," Don shrugs, "Nothing serious."

Water from the underworld? Did we build his house above hell?

"And yeah, I did build my house above my kingdom," Hades smirks.

Woah, now that is smart.

"Persephone, we are glad that you're taking this well but believe me it is not going to be easy; a lot of people will want you dead when they find out that we've found you, especially my father," Don says.

"Your father?" I question

"Yes, my father, it's a long story and I'll tell it to you one day," Hades says.

Oh boy, I at once think, so I am dating the most dangerous beings and isn't their incest involved?

"And no, we are not related, our father is Kronos, and we are his kids and it's complicated to explain how we all came about, but we are not related." Don replies.

"You need to stop yelling," Hades says rubbing his temples, "I can hear you yelling in your head."

"We all can," Fifi adds.

My cheeks heat up, "I'm sorry, I'm still getting used to all this."

Don chuckles, "It's okay Persephone, with time you'll get used to it, your boyfriend here still struggles from time to time."

"No, I don't." he defends.

"So why are you picturing Persephone naked?" he smirks.

Hades blushes, "Get out of my head Poseidon!"

Don and Fifi cannot help but laugh, I am dying of embarrassment and all they can do is laugh.

"Hades you need to keep your dirty thoughts out of your head," Don laughs, "It'll get you into a lot of trouble."

Hades groans and pulls me out of the room, taking me outside to the garden.

"Alone at last," he says softly.

I look at him and his green eyes are already staring back at me.

"I can't believe I'm a Greek goddess."

He takes my hand and kisses it, "A very beautiful one at that."

I pull my hand away and smack his chest, "Stop it. I cannot wait till I'm learning all the cool stuff."

"It's not going to be easy," he says

I nodded, "You're just saying that to scare me"

"Persephone, I don't think you understand just how serious this is," he says, "You and I have to get married, we have to mate, go see the council and do all that before my dad decides to come down here to kill you."

"Kill me? Why would he want to kill me?"

"Because you're next in line to the throne of gods,"

What?!

"Persephone, stop yelling!" Hades grumbles.
