Persephone
"The last time I saw him, it was here," I tell Demeter, as we make our way down to the Underworld.
"What happened?"
"The Night Twins wanted to overthrow him but before I could help him Tyson teleported me to you," I reply.
Demeter sighs, "This is my fault, I thought maybe if he lost his kingdom, you would see just how useless he is and come to me."
My head does a one-eighty-degree turn and I look at her in disbelief, but I remember that she's here with me and she's here to help me and I decide to keep my mouth shut.
The door opens and I'm greeted by Zeus, who seems to be struggling with an unclaimed soul.
I rush out and open a portal to the torture fields and grab the soul and throw it in and close the portal.
"Holy shit," Zeus says and quickly gets himself up off the ground.
"Demeter, Persephone," he greets, keeping his eyes on Demeter.
"She's here to help, don't worry, what are you doing here?" I ask.
He looks at me, "The Night Twins are causing havoc and we are trying to help your husband reclaim this place."
"How the fuck did that happen?"
Before he can respond, I raise my hand, "Where is he?"
"The Torture Fields,"
I open a portal, "You two stay here and help each other, I'll go help Hades,"
I jump through the portal, and it closes behind me, I walk down the pathway and I can hear the souls screaming and screeching. I need to put them back, what is it that Hecate taught me?
Yes, the slums.
I teleport to the Slums of the Undistinguished dead and look for the beacon it's always hidden and never stays in one place. I slowly walk around, but I trip and fall onto the ground, I look over and see a small puppy laying on the ground, it looks wounded and most likely dead, I crawl over to it and look for the wound, I see a small puncture wound on its belly and I place my hand over it, using my healing abilities to seal the wound.
A few short moments pass, and I hear the puppy whine, I pick it up and it opens its eyes and already knows who it is.
"Cerberus?"
He barks and wags its tail, "Aren't you the cutest thing? And they said you were dangerous."
He barks and starts licking my face and I giggle, "Down boy, down. We need to find a beacon. Do you know where it is?"
He barks and I put him down and he starts sniffing around, I stand up and follow him until he stops and starts digging, I look over and see a metal rode, I help him dig it out and once I can grab onto to it, I pull it out and there is a ringing sound. From a far distance, a dark shadow is forming getting bigger and bigger, I pick Cerberus up and run away from the area as quickly as possible, I watch as the ground opens and the souls go down that hole, screaming and screeching as they are pulled in.
Once the portal closes, I teleport back to the Fields, and I put Cerberus down and he starts to growl.
"What is it, boy?"
He barks and starts running down the pathway, I follow him, and he leads me to where the twins and Hades are. Hades is on the floor with Hypnos and Thanos towering over him, they are stepping on his hands.
What do I do?
Before I could come up with a plan Cerberus, decides to make a run for it towards Hades, barking.
"Cerberus, no," I whisper, and I am left with no choice but to Hermes after him, exposing myself.
He stops beside Hades and starts barking like crazy, and then the craziest thing happens, he transforms into a three-headed beast. A dark, scary, fanged three-headed animal, which grew almost the size of a freight truck.
"Holy shit," I gasp.
Cerberus picks up Thanos but his teeth and throws him across the field. Hades gets up and I rush towards him.
"Why didn't you tell me that thing was happening?"
"We are not having this discussion right now, we need to go to the palace now," he says and pulls me away from the action.
"What about Cerberus?"
He opens a portal and pulls me in, "He'll be fine,"
He pulls me through the portal, and we are inside the palace, we quickly rush to the basement, where we find Zeus and Poseidon.
Zeus rolls his eyes, "Took you long enough,"
"Who gathered the souls?"
I awkwardly raise my hand, nervous that my actions may have caused more problems than solutions.
"You are amazing," Poseidon smiles.
I blush, "Thank you, Hecate taught me well,"
Demeter walks through the door with a bowl and a few items in it, Hecate not far behind her.
"What's going on?"
My question is ignored, and everybody starts laying things on the table, Hades pulls out a book and opens it, hurriedly flipping through it and then stops when he finds what he's looking for. The atmosphere in the room is tense, everybody is focused on tasks that I would like to know about, but no one seems to notice that I'm still in the room.
"Okay, are we ready?" Hecate asks.
Everybody nods and they each grab a blade, slice their hands, and let their blood drip into the bowl as they murmur a spell.
The room starts spinning and I can't seem to keep my balance, as I hear whispers, which keep getting louder and louder and then they turn into screams, I cover my ears, tightly shutting my eyes, and my mind goes back to that day when the sirens first came.
'Death is at hand.'
I feel someone grab me and pull me away from the room, I open my eyes and find myself standing outside the basement door, with Demeter by my side.
"Are you okay baby?"
I look around the hallway and then at her, "What's happening?"
"They are working on restoring order to the Underworld, you started screaming and I had to pull you out," she explains, "What they are doing in there is pretty powerful magic and maybe the baby was responding to it."
"Oh, is everything going to be, okay?"
She places her hand on my shoulder, "Of course baby, I trust that they'll get everything back in order before Cronus shows up."
I nod, "You did a good job, summoning those souls,"
"Thank you."
The basement door opens, and everybody steps out with relieved looks on their faces.
"It's done, we just hope the Cerberus has not killed those two," Hades says.
"I'll go find them and have them locked up," Zeus says and disappears.
I walk over to Hades and hug him, and he wraps his arms around me. I tear spills down my cheek, how I have longed to have him in my arms, we pull apart and share a kiss.
"Everything will be alright baby," he says and kisses me one last time.
