Persephone
"Hades, how nice of you to join us. I was introducing my cousin here to my twin brother since we are blood. I thought there should be no secrets between us, right brother?" Thanos says with a smirk.
"Of course, and besides, you didn't invite us to the wedding. So, we thought why not invite her for coffee and get to know each other," Marcel adds.
I don't know what's more terrifying the fact they lie so well or that my husband caught me in a lie.
Hades grits his teeth, "Persephone, I want you to leave now."
"Hades, you can't tell me to do that. I got here," I protest.
"Persephone, now!" I jump in my chair. He has never yelled at me like that, ever, and that voice, that scary, dark voice.
"Oh, Hades, look what you've done you've scared your wife. If Uncle Charles hears about this, you'll be in trouble," he says, disappointed.
"You two better shut the hell up before I feed you to Cerberus," Hades yells.
Both Hypnos and Thanatos laugh, "Been there done that, and we can still survive that."
"Persephone, leave!"
I don't hesitate. I don't argue. I stand up and leave if he's yelling at them like that. Who knows what he'll do to me? This a whole new side of him that I'm seeing, he's possessive, yes but that is borderline crazy. His eyes turned black; his neck veins were bulging out. His face was turning red, I could have sworn that he almost turned into a beast.
I walk back to the car, unlock the door, and get in. Should I wait for him?
No, I need to talk to Hecate about Hades, if I'm going to be stuck with this guy forever, as well as find out who he is. I made an irrational decision during a crazy time of my life and when I commit to something or someone. I stick with it and I'm going to stick with Hades. I do love him, or rather I'm learning to love him and this side of him is unfamiliar to me.
I start the engine and make the drive home, I'm still feeling uneasy, and my hands are a little shaky. I should have waited for him.
And then what? He'll feed me Cerberus and who is Cerberus? a torture master or a pet, it must be a pet, right?
I finally get out of my head and realise that I'm home. I guess that's what happens when you let your thoughts consume you. Everything around you keeps moving and when you finally look up, the world is already ahead of you.
I get out of the car and make my way into the house, "Hecate, I'm home."
Silence.
"Hecate?"
I walk to the living room and find Don and Amphitrite sitting beside Hecate. Don looks up and he looks more than glad to see me, and so does everybody else, what in the world is going on? Don gets up and walks to me, he pulls me into his arms and kisses the top of my head.
"Persephone, you're back. We were worried about you," he says.
Frozen in place, I struggle to respond, I'm confused.
"What are you guys talking about? I just went to the mall,"
"It's Hades, we were scared he was going to hurt you. He left here angry and upset that you lied to him about what or rather who you were going to meet at the mall," Hecate explains.
"He is mad, I left him at the mall with Hypnos and Thanatos." I sigh, "Is he going to kill them?"
Don grabs my arms and looks at me in disbelief, "Hypnos and Thanatos? Are you shitting me Persephone?"
"What is up with you people, they didn't do anything to me okay, we are just a coffee at Starbucks," I reply and push Don away.
"Did they say anything to you?" Hecate asks, "Anything strange or out of the ordinary?"
I chuckle, "This is strange and out of the ordinary, my life has become the epitome of strange. For one, they gave a sense of normalcy."
Don sighs, "Those two can't be trusted, they are dangerous, cunning, evil and annoying."
"Just like any other family member, are you done? I want to go eat," I roll my eyes.
"I'm having ribs, come join me," Amphitrite says biting into a rib. I barely noticed she was here with all these people ambushing me.
"Fifi, you are the one," I groan and rush over to sit beside her.
Her baby bump was now visible, and she has put on a few extra pounds.
"Don't mind my husband, he's a little overprotective of you," Fifi laughs and takes a bite of her rib.
I scoff, "It's annoying."
Fifi laughs, "Oh come on, you are technically the last born of the family. He's little sister and he's favourite brother's wife,"
I roll my eyes, "Still don't get it."
She chuckles, "Why did you go see the twins?"
"Now, you're giving me the third degree too?"
She shakes her head, "Oh no, no. I just like to gossip and those two have never been in the same place at the same time and not to burn a place down,"
That's interesting.
"What do you mean? They were getting along fine."
"They only get along when it suits them. Or when they want something or are up to something horrible. Their mother has to come to clean up when it's over," Amphitrite explains.
"I don't know, they just wanted to see," I say, "Who is their mother?"
"Nyx, she also has a twin sister, Selene," Fifi replies, she takes a moist toilette and wipes her fingers.
"This is a crazy family. You'll learn a lot as time goes but no matter what happens don't trust the Night family. Those folks are dangerous people, they think they are the Kardashian."
I laugh, "Seriously, the Kardashians are lame,"
"My point exactly,"
Fifi and I laugh and carry on devouring the ribs.
"Persephone!"
He's here and he's still in a bitchy ass mood, this nigga.
"What?!" I yell back, "I thought you'd have your attitude sorted out before you got here Hades."
Hades storms into the lounge and I stand up and cross my arms, "Guys will you please excuse my husband and me,"
"No problem, Fifi, honey, let's get you home," Don says and helps his wife up.
"But I want to see the drama unfold," she pouts.
Don whispers something in her ear, and she smirks, Don gives me a curt nod, and they disappear in a puff of smoke.
"You were saying?"
He huffs, "How could you lie to me like that? Go behind my back with Thanos and his brother. Do you know what those two are capable of?"
"Aww, you're jealous, aren't you?" I tease. I reach out to touch his cheek and grab my hand, his touch is ice cold and makes my nipples harden.
Dammit.
"This is the last time you ever lie to me, understand?" he snarls.
I look up and him and smirk, "Or what Hades?"
