Persephone
7 days.
A whole 7 days
168 hours, until my wedding day.
I am lying in bed next to Hades, he is fast asleep, his chest rising and falling gently, and he looks beautiful. I would not mind waking up to this every morning. His tattooed chest is a work of art, this man was a walking canvas. I had always wanted tattoos but not like this, maybe after we get married, I can get one, a small one though.
I gently run my finger down the middle of his chest.
"Persephone, don't even," he says groggily.
I pull my hand away, "Sorry."
"How long have you been up?" he yawns.
"Not long," I reply watching his stretch.
He looks at me and smiles, "You're so beautiful."
"Even without my wigs and make-up."
He laughs, "You look perfect without them."
I smile, "Breakfast?"
His eyes go hungry, "Of course."
"No, you know we aren't allowed to Hades, not until after the wedding."
He groans, "Fuck, I know but I've got morning wood baby."
I roll my eyes, "You are such a teenager."
He pulls me closer to him and his morning wood pressed against me, "That's a full-on hard-on babe."
He smirks, "I know, now help me."
I try to push him away, but he is got a stronghold on me, "Hades, let me go."
"Not until you give me what I want."
I try wriggling out of his arms, but it does not work, that's when his lips contact my neck, and he kisses the nape of my neck before nibbling and sucking on it, causing me to moan.
"You see, you want me too," he chuckles.
"Hades stop it," I beg.
And like an adolescent teen, he does not listen, he slides his hand underneath my nightdress, deliberately moving his hand slowly up my thigh.
Knock, knock.
"Hades, you have a visitor!"
He groans, "I'm busy Hecate."
"Boy if you don't stop manhandling the poor girl, I'll beat you myself," she yells through the door.
He lets me go and rushes to the door, unlocking the door before opening it.
"I wasn't manhandling her," he says breathlessly.
Hecate peeps over his shoulder and looks at me. I shake my head at her, and she sighs.
She is not buying it.
"You have a guest Hades, it's urgent," she says.
"Who is it?" Hades asks.
"It's him."
Hades grabs his robe and puts it on, "Persephone, I'll be right back baby."
"Where are you going?
" Business calls babe," and he leaves.
You are not getting away with it that easy Hades.
I get out of bed and put on my robe, I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth, giving him time to forget that I am here. I finish brushing my teeth and quietly open the door, I sneak down the stairs and I hear two male voices echoing from the dining room.
"I'm trying to be an adult about this and talk to you about it like a man."
"I don't care, dad, all you ever do is cause trouble, let me have this," Hades says.
"I'm afraid I can't, she has to do it. Demeter will not accept anything less."
"I don't know how she'll take this; she barely knows the woman."
"I'm sorry son."
I do not know how far I walked; I found myself just a few feet away from them behind the wall.
"Persephone baby, I know you're behind the wall."
Dammit.
"Sorry, I couldn't help it," I say as I walk into the dining room.
"Well, you didn't tell me she was this beautiful Hades," the man stands up and he is a staggering 7 feet tall, with long salt and pepper hair and beard, and bright blue eyes.
" Persephone meet my father Cronus."
He opens his arms and I hesitate too, but I walk to him and hug him.
"Hello sir," I softly.
"Don't be silly dear, call me Charles," he says with a hearty laugh.
This was the guy they said I should be afraid of, he looks harmless.
"Charles."
Hades stands up to his feet, "He was just leaving."
Charles looks at his son pensively, "I was. Think about what I've said."
"I will."
I watch as he walks his father to the door, I hear the door close, and Hades walks back into the dining room.
"What did I tell you, Persephone?"
"What did I tell you?" He repeats furiously.
I jump, "To stay upstairs."
"And why didn't you listen to me?" He yells in my face.
I stand up, "I don't know what your problem is, but you better get your stank ass breath out of my face before I slap you."
He quickly closes his mouth.
"I was coming to get a cup of coffee and I overheard the two talking and we are about to get married, you should be telling me everything Hades."
His eyes soften, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell baby."
"Damn right you did," I replied angrily.
"Okay, I'm sorry Persephone, forgive me?"
Seriously, no.
"Hades, you're not getting off that easy, you yelled at me for no obvious reason and now you think giving me sorry eyes is going to work, it won't. I'm going to Fifi's."
I turn around and walk away.
Okay, I did overdo it, but I do not tolerate being yelled at like that and he is keeping things from me, that is not the kind of relationship I want to be in.
"Persephone, dear," Hecate calls out from the bedroom door.
"Yes, Cate?"
"Can you open the door for me?" she says, I get up and walk to the door, but something does not feel right.
I open the door and I find a Thanatos standing at the door.
"Well, hello precious," he smirks.
"What do you want?"
"I'm going to borrow you for a minute," he says slyly.
I walk back into the bedroom; something was not right about this boy. His eyes were black, and he looks downright evil. I grab a walking stick but the bed and hold it in front of me.
"Stay back."
He laughs, "That won't save you but don't worry I won't hurt you."
