Persephone
I am nervous, to say the least, I have thirty minutes left until I am walking down the aisle by myself. I tried to get my parents to come but they couldn't make it because it was such short notice, and they did not really approve of me getting married to Hades. They thought he was weird and creepy, so I chose to walk down the aisle by myself.
"Persephone, are you ready honey?" Hecate asks.
"Yes Nena, I'm fine, just nervous," I chuckle nervously.
"It's normal, you'll be alright," she smiles, "And I love the black and gold toga, it's a beautiful choice."
"Fifi helped me pick it out," I say, giving her a wink.
"I was once in your position baby girl, so I know a thing or two," she smiles.
I look in the mirror one more time, I had minimal makeup on, and they used traditional Greek perfume, I smelt like roses and lavender.
"Persephone, we need to get going," Hecate says looking at her watch.
I pick up my bouquet of lilies and white roses and get ready to walk down the aisle. Hecate opens the door, and I am greeted by Mama June and Rhea; they are dressed in traditional Greek dresses.
And yes, I invited Mama and Papa June, I had to forgive her and let bygones be bygones.
"Oh, baby you look gorgeous," Mama June says with tears in her eyes.
"Don't cry Mama, please," I beg, also getting teary-eyed.
"I'm sorry," she cries. Hecate places a comforting arm over her.
"You look, beautiful dear," Rhea smiled, "You remind me of Fifi when she was getting married, beautiful and radiant."
"Thank you."
Fifi gently wipes my tears away, "Let's get going baby."
I make my way downstairs to the back door, where a red carpet is rolled out the door to the mini chapel.
I let out a shaky breath when I see Hades with his back turned to me, he has a gold and black toga, just like mine.
Rhea steps out and announces my arrival, the music starts playing and I make my way down the aisle.
I must believe it, I am getting married, I am going to be Mrs Wilson, and I am about to get some dick tonight, finally. My celibate self has been dying for it.
Oh my gosh, there he is, he is sexy blue eyes and those trimmed biceps. I am soaking wet.
Persephone, stop, you are going to scare people.
Hades, I hope none heard that.
They did but just act cool.
I put a smile on my face as I walk down the aisle, looking straight at Hades and he gives me a nod, the plan was officially in motion.
I am finally standing beside Hades, and he takes my hand.
"You look gorgeous baby," he whispers.
I blush, "Thank you, you look good too."
He chuckles and we face the elders.
"Fellow gods and goddesses, minors and deities, we are gathered here today, to join together Hades Wilson and Persephone Jones, in matrimony," the bald elder says.
"Let us begin with the vow exchange, Hades, you may begin."
He looks at me and smiles, "I'm not a man of many words but every time I look at you, I have a lot to say, I just don't know how to say it, I'm bad with words."
"He failed English in high school," Zeus yells off the back, and everybody laughs.
He chuckles and he takes my hands, "Persephone, all I can say is that I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
His eyes fill up with tears, but he blinks them away.
"Persephone," the elder says.
"I failed English too," I laugh, and so does everybody else.
"But here goes, Hades you're a wonderful guy, I love you and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
"May we have the rings, so we ask the gods to bless them?"
Hecate stands up and gives him our rings, which are placed on a blood-red cushion tied with a white ribbon.
The elder takes the cushion, places it on the podium and says something in Greek, the two other elders place their hands over the rings, and they glow.
"You may take your rings."
I take Hade's ring and he takes mine; he takes my hand and waits for the elder's command.
"Repeat after me, I, Hades, King of the Underworld, with this ring, I thee wed, I promise to love, care, support and cherish you, for eternal life."
Hades repeats and slips the black diamond ring onto my finger.
The elder repeats the same vows for me and I slip his black stainless-steel ring on his finger.
"We now pronounce you husband and wife," the elder says and everybody stands up and cheers for us, we are not allowed to kiss, until the traditional ceremony that is done in the Underworld.
"We will now, move to the Underworld, to complete the ceremony, in thirty minutes we should be there ready to proceed," Hecate announces.
Hades and I have pulled apart and Fifi takes my hand and pulls me into the house.
"We have to get you dressed and down there in 15 minutes baby, so let's go," she says as she pulls me up the stairs.
They take me up the stairs to the guest bedroom and they start undressing me, removing the black and gold toga, and dressing me in a black royal gown with a matching gold embroidered cape. They change my wig and give me a long jet-black wig and place a black tiara on my head.
"Okay, let's get going," Fifi says.
I look in the mirror and smile, the plan is going according to plan, and within the hour, everything will be complete.
I confidently walk out of the room and follow Fifi down the stairs to the lounge, where a passageway is visible from the door, which must lead to the Underworld, how come I never noticed it before?
We step through the tunnel and go down the stairs, seconds later we are in another room, I see Hades sitting on a throne dressed in black royal attire. He sees me walking towards him and he grins.
"There she is," he announces, "My beautiful bride."
I smile, "I missed you too baby."
He takes my hand and they gesture to the chair beside his, "This is your throne, soon you'll be my queen."
"I can't wait," I grin.
We sit down, and the elders walk in and everyone else is behind them, two of the elders are holding crowns, both matte black with gold jewels, and the elder in the middle has a glass in his hand.
The elders stand in front of us, and we both stand up and kneel in front of them.
"We'll keep this short; we have another wedding to attend to," the bald elder says and everyone laughs, I do not blame him, this is a last-minute thing.
He takes a crown, says an incantation, and places it on Hades' head, he takes my crown, does the same thing, and places it on my head.
He takes the glass.
"Now that you have been crowned, you will both drink from the matrimonial cup. Once you've drunk from it, you are sealed to each other, no one or nothing will separate, not even another god, you are bound to each other in spirit, body, and soul," he says.
I am nervous, this is the final stage of the plan.
He hands Hades the cup and his drinks, he hands it over to me and I drink it. My stomach turns and my insides start to burn pomegranates.
And everything turns black.
