LETTERS

Professor Dumbledore,

I was hesitant to write this, because frankly, it's not my business, which makes it not your business either. Unfortunately, however, I must protect those closest to me. And if that means revealing a secret to someone that I do not completely trust, so be it. But I am aware of your affiliation with the Order of the Phoenix, and while it's quite shocking, I intend to join after I graduate in the spring.

Anyway, to the main point of my letter. I'm writing to you because my best friend is in danger, and it is a danger that affects me and everyone I love. Regulus Black received the Dark Mark over the summer. I can't quite figure out whether he got it because he wanted it or because he was pressured into it. He's only sixteen, Professor. He's far too young to be pledging his entire life to Voldemort.

I'm asking you to protect him, or at the very least, watch out for him. I've lost so much in my life that I can't afford to lose Regulus, too. He's a good person. I will swear on my brother's grave that that is true.

So I humbly ask you to keep him safe in whatever way you can.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sage Fontaine
