"How heartwarming."
Bucky steps in front of me protectively as my father steps closer.
"Relax soldier, I'm not going to fight you."
"Then what do you want?" my eyes narrow as I try to figure out what he's up to.
"I'm giving you a choice Jessica."
"A choice between what?" There has to be a twist.
"Me or him. Who do you save?"
"That's a stupid question isn't it. I mean, the answers kind of obvious."
"Just answer it!"
"Him. It's always going to be him."
"You'd choose some boy over your father?"
"I've done it before haven't I." I watch as anger bubbles inside him at the mention of my previous betrayel. In fact, now that I think of it, that's probably why he despises me and why he despises Loki even more.
"Why him?"
"He was there for me everytime you weren't."
"When? I was alwyas there for you."
"Do you remember that night the thunder shook the base?I was five and the lightening was so bright I thought the world was on fire. I'm all under the covers crying and you come flying into my room and peek under the covers and decide to make it a game. We were in Alaska looking for gold. You made that a entire night an adventure until the storm passed. Don't you remember that?"
"No I don't Jess."
"That's because it never happened." My voice is flat and my face emotionless, "The storm happened but you didn't."
My father looks down at the ground, almost as though he's dissapointed in himself.
"It was Bucky that came in." I turn to face Bucky, "He made it Alaska and I wan't scared at all."
"You fell asleep holding my hand." smiles Bucky, remembering that night.
"So that's why I choose him because he actually cares for people."
"That was the wrong choice."
Bucky pulls out gun, pointing it as my father as he does the same only pointing it at me.
"Oh, what a turn of events," my father chuckles to himself, "Shoot me soldier and I'll shoot her."
"You wouldn't shoot your own daughter."
"Try me."
"It's okay Bucky, it's time to let me go now."
"I can't Jess, I just can't do it." He shakes his head as he looks me in the eyes.
"I want to thank you for giving me everything I've ever wanted." I smile reassuringly at Bucky as I continue, "There's nothing more I could ever want than for us to both make it out of this alive but we can't."
"Yes we can doll."
"No you can't. She's made up her mind and once she's done that, there's no changing her mind." smirks my father, "She get's it from me."
"Shut up!" I snap, "you've done enough alreadt and I'm not finished." I take a deep breath, turning back to Bucky, "I need you to live your life, enjoy yourself. I want you to be happy."
"I can't without you doll."
"This is the last time I'm going to see you, this is goodbye Bucky."
"No, I can't loose you."
"Time's up." says my dad.
"You have to let go." I whisper as my dad pulls the trigger.
