What are you supposed to do
when your past flashes before your eyes,
a horror movie you can't shut off?
You realize now, you only own shards
of your broken soul.
The rest was sacrificed
to the hordes of demons that tore you apart,
a last-minute deal made to get you out alive.
Sometimes, it's almost as though
you can feel them taking what you owe them,
energy depleting the second you open your eyes
to that scalding, mid-morning sun.
Why does the morning always hurt?
Why does it have to burn so much?
They thought they could trap you in the dark.
Maybe they did,
and you have just imagined this garden
with all its beauty.
Crowns of all kinds of roses
ready to turn to dust
at any given moment.
But what if you turn to dust, too?
What if they are ready for your soul,
ready to take you away
just like the others?
Then will you try
to find a way out of this hell?
