Darling, what have you done to your life?
Everything used to come so easily to you.
Now, even getting out of bed is a chore.
You stare at empty walls in empty rooms,
as if you will suddenly find meaning in them.
Why can't you get up?
Why can't you be productive?
Why can't you do something?
Anything but this?
As a child,
you were bright.
You could read books
and remember every word.
Now you can barely read one
without getting bored or distracted.
Maybe you are trying,
but you need to try harder.
Hell, everyone is going to surpass you.
Is that what you want?
Look me in the eyes when I'm talking.
I know it doesn't hurt.
Listen now and listen clear.
Do not ignore me.
This is my house,
and you will live by my rules.
Everyone else your age is making a life for themselves.
They have chosen careers and moved on.
Why can't you just listen in school?
Don't tell me you can't learn in a chair.
I see you write, write, write.
All you ever do is write.
You need to get yourself out there.
Get a better job.
Get a place of your own.
Just get better.
People will talk about you.
They will say bad things about you.
How can that be avoided?
Just be.
Be better.
Be someone else.
No, you have to be yourself.
Figure out who you are.
Just not here.
