Maya:
I was in the kitchen grabbing myself some food when FRIDAY alerted me. "Ms. Alton, Mr. Barnes has just woken up," the AI said, coming through on her promise to let me know if Bucky woke up while I was gone. I forgot about my food and ran to the elevator, dragging my IV fluids with me, continuously pushing the button until the lift came to my floor. The ride felt like hours as the elevator made its way down to the first floor - where the medical wing was. It finally slowed down right before I ran out and across the building to Bucky's room, where I had been camping out for the last twelve hours. I had sustained minor injuries from the last few weeks and was dehydrated from the lack of food and water I had been given. Though, Bruce deemed me healthy enough not to sleep in a hospital bed. Instead, I slept on the small couch in Bucky's room.
Bucky had passed out by the time we got back from Siberia, but Dr. Banner said it was nothing to worry about as he had already gotten the bullet out, and the wound was stitched up. He would need at least a day of bed rest and a couple of weeks for healing time. To say the least: I was relieved. I ran down the narrow hall to Bucky's room when I saw that Steve had beaten me there. Both of them turned to me when they heard my IV fluid frame roll into the doorway. I couldn't help but smile when Bucky looked over at me. "...Hi," I mumbled shyly to the two soldiers, feeling a little awkward around Steve since our last interaction.
"Hey, doll," Bucky said quietly, but in a chipper tone while smiling. I blushed slightly at the nickname.
"Hey, Maya," Steve added, almost right after Bucky spoke.
"Um, I can come back later," I suggest.
"No, come on in. I'll let you two talk," Steve said, shooting me an awkward smile and giving me a final glance as he walked out the door.
I was caught in a daze, staring at the floor. "Hey." Bucky's voice brought my attention back to him. I smiled.
"Hey," I responded, walking over to his bed, dragging my IV frame with me. A blush crept up on my cheeks as he grabbed my hand.
"Bruce told me what happened; said I probably would've bled out if you hadn't woken up on time," he quietly said, looking a bit more serious than he had with Steve just a few minutes ago.
"Well, my timing is impeccable." He chuckled at my sarcasm. I took a seat on the edge of the bed. "But seriously, I'm sorry I put you in that position."
Bucky pulled me down with him, making sure to carefully watch all of the wires that had been attached to him and the single one that had been attached to me. "I don't think it could've gone any better, given the circumstances. But I'm glad you're okay and that Schmidt is gone."
"Me too." I cuddled closer to Bucky, nuzzling my head into his neck. His scent was the same as his pillow - pine, along with some lurking gun powder.
"...I know this is probably the last thing you want to talk about, but I think we should talk to Steve." My heart dropped at the thought of him not being okay with Bucky and me.
"...I think so too. But what if he's not okay with it?" I asked. Bucky had become one of the most important people in my life in such a short amount of time, and I couldn't hold in my feelings any longer, even if someone I cared about wasn't okay with it.
Bucky thought a lot about his response. His silence made me look up at him before he could answer. "Then we'd still stay together. I care about Steve, I really do, and he's my best friend. But so are you. You've helped me more in the last few months than anyone ever has in the last few years because you just get it. You get me, and I never thought I'd meet someone that would."
