Bucky:
I always thought Maya was pretty, but shit, tonight she looked stunning. She was literally perfect in every way. We were sitting and talking with the rest of the Avengers, "Just because Tony forces us to show up doesn't mean we have to socialize," said Steve before we left. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who didn't like talking to people they didn't know. So here I am, talking to the only two people that are making the stay at the facility worth it - and one of them, I didn't even know I would get so close to in such a short amount of time.
"Ms. Alton, Mr. Barnes, I'd like you to meet Secretary Everett Ross," Tony said as both Maya and I turned around in our seats.
"Дерьмо," (Shit) I heard Maya say under her breath. She then quickly composed herself and stood up to shake Ross's hand. "Secretary Ross, nice to meet you, I'm Maya," she said. I quickly followed in Maya's footsteps, I stood up and offered my hand to shake.
"Bucky," I said with a painfully fake smile. "Nice to meet you," I said, the Secretary took my hand and shook it. Ross immediately turned back to Maya, I wasn't surprised that he was more interested in her - her hit list was longer than anyone's in HYDRA history - anyone's in any history.
"Maya, I understand that you were taken in by the Red Room, just like Natasha?" Ross asked. I immediately looked over at Maya and saw the tense and uncomfortable expression grow on her face before she answered.
"Yeah... yeah, I did. She was a few years ahead of me in her training because she was older, but she's the only other Black Widow left - that we know of," Maya hesitantly answered. After HYDRA fell, all the Black Widows were eliminated by those who were still loyal to the organization, the only Widows they couldn't get were Maya and Natasha.
"Yes, I'm aware. But Natasha had the opportunity to get out when given the chance. Why didn't you?" Ross asked. His question frustrated me, even after numerous explanations from Steve and Tony, Ross still didn't understand that Maya didn't have any control over that decision. I could see the anger firing up in her eyes before she closed them and took a deep breath.
"Because I was never given the chance to get out. I thought I was doing the right thing at the time, you can ask Nat. The Red Room brainwashed us from a young age - some of us younger than others. I was taught that I was on the right side of the fight until I realized I wasn't," Maya with difficulty, I could hear the frustration building up in her voice.
"But what about when you joined HYDR-"
"The Red Room is a part of HYDRA. If you look in the encrypted HYDRA files that were released when both SHIELD and HYDRA fell, I can guarantee that you will find all the names of the girls who were raised in the Red Room. I never voluntarily joined HYDRA, my association just switched from the Red Room to the organization of HYDRA as a whole," Maya said. I could tell she was trying to stay calm but I could understand why she was angry; the very first time she has to meet someone, they immediately had to ask her about her past. If I were in her position, I'd be frustrated too. I looked over at Steve who gave me a concerning glance, he was clearly worried about Maya's temper as well.
"That I understand, but in your file-" Ross was immediately cut off by someone's scream.
Maya.
Her scream wasn't coming from fear - but from pain. I looked over Maya's head to the other side of her body and saw the blood already starting to drip down her right arm. She'd been shot twice... and I think I knew by who. I looked out the shattered window to search for anything, but nothing was there, nothing but the forest that surrounded the facility. Then the power went out. I felt a hand on my arm before I was in the shadow dimension once again, I looked beside me to find Maya walking towards Ross before she touched him and brought him into the dimension as well. Then Steve, Tony, Natasha, anyone that was near her, any guest that was in her proximity. She tried to move as fast as possible, but the pain from both bullets was getting to her.
"Maya," I said giving her a warning glare, silently telling her to stop.
"We can't be touched here," she said. The look on her face was tired, the extra movement from her efforts to save everyone was causing more blood loss than normal.
Then something strange happened. The power came back on, and a figure came through the place where the glass window was supposed to be, and everyone, in-and outside of the shadow dimension, froze in shock. A man, almost half a foot taller than me, with blonde hair, and a tactical suit similar to the Winter Soldier's, looked around the room. He silently walked across the room as people created a path for the man in the mask. He was looking for someone - probably Maya, considering she had just been shot. The man turned around, although I thought he couldn't see Maya, he was staring straight at her.
"Он может видеть меня," (He can see me) she whispered in fear. The man came charging at her, but she reacted on time. Somehow, she had quickly phased out of the shadow dimension and used her powers to create a knife, I had never seen her do that so quickly. Maya quickly attacked as well but a punch was landed on her right side, the side where she had been shot in the ribs. She couldn't block the blow, she couldn't move her arm without wincing in pain. The man kept going for her right side, but Maya quickly used this opportunity to duck, she dodged an incoming punch to her face and quickly stabbed the man in the hip with her knife. Thank god she was a leftie. The man groaned in pain and Maya concentrated to make the knife disappear into thin air. Sam, who wasn't in the shadow dimension, stepped in and kicked the man in the back. The man quickly disappeared into thin air. The commotion was over, but the man had powers, and they looked similar to Maya's.
Maya stared to tiredly walk to people and phase them out of her dimension. I could see her getting tired and in a few long strides, I wrapped my arm around her waist for support.
"Buck, it's fine I can walk myself," she mumbled. She tried to escape my grip which only caused her to stumble more.
"Maya," I said, giving her another warning glare, "just let me help you," I said. Maya's blood was now gushing out of her wounds at such a fast rate that she was going to pass out any minute now. The bullets must have hit major arteries. I helped her, mostly dragged her, over to anyone that was left in the shadow dimension so she could phase them out, now the only people left were her and me. "You need medical attention," I said.
"No shit," she said sarcastically, somehow maintaining her consciousness as we phased back into the real world together. At this point, I was pretty much supporting all of Maya's body weight, she had to have lost at least one or two pints of blood. Bruce ran from the other couch to where we were and put pressure on Maya's wounds, she winced a little in pain. Her left hand latched onto the back of my shoulder and she gripped onto me as if she was trying to crush my scapula, and her grasp only tightened when Banner put more pressure on the wound.
"Let's get her to the med-wing. Now!" Bruce said. I leaned down to pick Maya up.
"Don't you dare pick me up, Barnes," Maya warned in a tired voice. She wanted to get the med-wing by herself, or least without me carrying her.
"Maya, you can barely stand on your own," I said while gripping her legs and picking her up quickly but carefully with Bruce still on the gunshot wounds. I think Maya tried to say something but she was too tired and worn out to speak.
