Maya:

"Amazing," he said as he carefully unwrapped the dressing from my shoulder and ribcage. Bruce was amazed by the capabilities of the super-soldier serum. "It would take a normal human about ten weeks for a clavicle and about six weeks for a gunshot wound to fully heal. But you completely recovered from your injuries in just two weeks," Bruce continued.

The last two weeks were pretty boring. No training, no lifting anything at all, lots of pain medication and icing, and a ton of bed rest. To say the least, I thought I was going to go crazy. But finally, Banner got me out of my sling and off the drugs. He finished taking off the dressing and taking out the stitches and I moved my arm in circles. It was stiff. I could feel the joints in my shoulder grinding against each other as I moved around my arm.

"Okay, it looks like you're good to go," Bruce says, and I hopped off the gurney in Tony and Bruce's lab and walked to stand beside Bucky.

"You know who shot her right?" Bucky asked. During the last two weeks, he's made sure I've taken the least amount of steps possible. Literally, every time I wanted to go and get something, he'd get it for me. Every time I wanted to walk on the treadmill at the gym, he'd walk with me to make sure I didn't trip or get hurt. When Sam said we were attached as the ass, we really proved him right in the last fourteen days.

"Bucky, I'm pretty sure we all know," Bruce responded. That night, we all saw the HYDRA symbol on the blonde man's right sleeve, and we all saw the empty blue eyes in the middle of the dark paint that surrounded them. The minute he jumped through the broken window, we all knew it was Lukas Schmidt - the Red Pheonix, but the name hasn't been discussed. That whole night hadn't been discussed at all. The only thing that's happened remotely related to that night was that Tony installed bulletproof glass on all the first-floor windows, and you'd think Tony would've thought to do that when they were building this place.

I looked up at Bucky, he nodded at Bruce's response with a downcast look. "We should go," I quietly said to Bucky, he nodded. "Thanks, Dr. Banner," I said. Bucky and I turned around and walked out of the lab.

"So it takes a bullet through your collarbone for you to accept my help?" Bucky asked as we waited for the elevator to open.

"I guess so, but I'm not letting you help me with anything anymore. Every time I tried to walk around you'd practically carry me,"

"Really?" he asked in a sarcastic tone. "Okay then," he then shrugged. A few moments later the elevator opened and Bucky picked me up and slung me over his shoulder.

"Bucky!" I screamed and laughed. If it were anyone else I'd tell them to put me down, but I didn't want him to.

"I'm carrying you one last time into the elevator," he said. He then put me down to stand. That was the first time I've ever seen him smile with such genuine happiness on his face. Most of the time Bucky smiled, there was something in his eyes that just wasn't there, but this time, content took up his whole face - which just made me smile.

"Fuck you, Barnes," I said while laughing. Normally I would've punched, hit or hurt him in any way, but I didn't, I was having fun. I hadn't felt this light and happy in a long time. When the elevator stopped moving Bucky immediately picked me back up the same way he did before. "Bucky!" I yelled, the sound of laughter falling out of my mouth. I playfully punched him in the back, which was really the only part of him I had access to.
