Bucky had finally had a sense of peace. Sort of. Yes, he still had nightmares, and yes still a lot of the Winter Soldier stuck inside his head, plus loads of PTSD. But the man that was once Bucky Barnes was starting to show through the soldier, and when Steve had found him, he had never been happier to see anyone more in his entire life. Although the soldier didn't show his relief, and more so a straight emotionless face, he almost instantly accepted Steve Roger's invitation to come back with him to the Avengers tower to figure out how to get rid of the Winter Solder still left in him.

Bucky:

I was relieved, very relieved to see him. I didn't know much about him but I knew who he was. I read about him in a museum and I had a few flashbacks of him in my dreams, more so nightmares. But I was relieved to see a familiar face, someone who I could eventually learn to trust.

"Bucky, please. Just come with me and we can fix you at the Avengers lab. You can stay with us at the facility. You could even join us on a mission and maybe even join the team." I was going to say yes. Of course, I was. But being an avenger? Hell no. I was not going to exploit myself to the public and have my name dragged even deeper into the dirt than it already was.

"Okay. But under no circumstances am I going to join the team," I said emotionless.

"Okay, I'll tell Tony that you'll be joining us," Steve said while leading me out of the dingy apartment I had been renting out. I quickly grabbed my backpack filled with my journal, some clothing and tactical gear and headed out the door without a second thought. I was lead outside into an alley, and at the other end was a plaza with no one there. Steve pushed a button and an Avengers labelled jet appeared out of thin air.

I followed Steve into the jet and reluctantly sat down on one of the seats in the cockpit right behind the pilot's seat. I fiddled with the safety on my pistol switching it on and off while Steve was warming up the jet.

"Better be careful with the safety on that gun," Steve said while smirking, looking ahead into the sky.

"I'm always careful," I said, with an equally cocky smirk. Then the jet took off to New York.
