Maya:
The quinjet landed. I wanted to go back to Venice, or Rio, or Hong Kong, really anywhere else but here. The Avengers building was nice; the building was huge, to say the least. In the least descriptive terms, it was a big white box with a giant avengers logo at the front.
"Come on, we're going to meet Tony," Natasha said. Then that was when I started to panic.
"As soon as he sees me he will want to rip me to shreds himself," I say calmly, but I start to let the panic build up inside me. A soon as Tony saw me he would call the FBI, the CIA, any federal agency that was looking for me. Even though Tony would want to hurt me himself, he couldn't hurt me that easily, but the man was still intimidating. Tony Stark, the billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, scares an enhaced, genius, rer room assissin.
"You're probably right, but if you want to join us, then you'll have to talk to him," Natasha said, trying to get me to compromise. I didn't want to, but I knew I had to. I figured I might as well get it over with as well.
"...Fine. But if Tony tries to kill me, that's on you," I said meaning every word. Tony couldn't kill me, not even the Iron Man suit could, but he can try. And fail.
While we were walking into the Avengers facility, another quinjet landed right beside ours, completely identical, and out of it walked Steve Rogers and none other than the Winter Soldier himself. The assassin in me was kind of fangirling, seeing as he has the second-highest kill count in the world, after me of course, but his reputation was more well-known. After all, he was almost a hundred years old. I couldn't see his metal arm as it was covered by a glove, but I recognized the trademark long hair and Colt 1911 pistol that the soldier was said to always carry with him, along with multiple other gun,s but the pistol was probablyall he could take with him while on the run from the rest of the world. It wasn't like he needed much else to protect himself anyways. We kept walking but I kept looking behind me trying to get a glimpse of the Winter Soldier's left arm.
Natasha and I stopped walking in our tracks, I turn back around just as I walk right into the billionaire himself, Tony Stark. "Oh my god, I'm sorry!" I say, backing up where Natasha was standing.
"Well, Natasha, this is a surprise. I didn't actually think you would manage to find her, considering all she can do, let alone convince her to show her face around here," Tony said with his cocky tone that he always talked to people with. His words filled me with shame, reminding me that I don't belong here.
"Stark, let's not play games. I know you too aren't the fondest of each other," Natasha said, refering to me and Tony, and giving him a warning glare.
Tony turned back to me and said "Well, kid. Looks like I gotta make you fall in love with me just like everyone else around here," Tony said to me with a smirk. Although he did have a better reaction than I thought he would.
"I'm not really the lovey-dovey type in case you haven't noticed. Emotions aren't really my thing," I said, very unenthusiastically, taking a sip of water from the bottle Nat gave me on the quinjet. It was true, I'd never been in love, I grew up in the red room and then got handed off to HYDRA, so there was never really a great time in my life to have a relationship with someone.
I hear a chuckle behind me and turn around and see that I had made Steve Rodgers snicker quietly at my statement. And beside him, I see an equally as tall figure, and just as broad, showing a faint smile.
"And it looks like the other world-class assissin decided to show up as well! How fun. Unfortunately, I only have one extra room, and to be honest, I wasn't counting on miss 'shadow' over here actually agreeing to stay with us. Plus the Avengers weren't really looking to expand when we moved everyone out here." Tony said, quite passive-agressively, bur more agressively than anything. What gets me even more down is the look on the Winter Soldier's face turning back into his emotionless assissin face. Tony continues his speech, "I'd be happy to take you both to your room so grab your things and let's go!" He said while walking away. I slung my duffel bag full of new clothing, gifted by Natasha, over my shoulder. The soldier beside me did the same with his backpack and we both followed Tony out of the lobby and into the living quarters.
The walk to the living quarters was quite awkward actually. Tony showed us a few other things like the lounge, kitchen, and training facilities - which I would be in a lot. Tony's behaviour was quite okay with me, he wasn't trying to kill me which was really all that mattered. Our room was down at the very end of the hall, the last door on the right. Tony told us that Steve was across the hall and Natasha's room was right beside us. How convenient, we would be surveilled 24/7, probably to make sure that we didn't kill each other. One wouldn't expect things to end up too well when you put two of the world's deadliest assassins in one room together, so really you can't blame anyone.
