I answered it and his loud voice came from me from the other line.

"Ethan, where the hell are you? Why aren't you answering my calls?"

Oh, I forgot, I always turn on my phone when I got home. It was turned off during class.

But, how can I hide from her the fact that I'm already studying here in Manila and have no plans to return to the States?

Sighing, I just answered her with a reply, knowing for a long that this would get her nervous.

"I've been busy," I shortly replied.

I didn't lie to her about that. Our class takes too long since each subject is about two hours.

But of course, I won't tell her that I'll stay here in the Philippines. I don't know what she'll do when she finds out. I don't even like dramas.

I noticed that as soon as she took a deep breath, forcing herself not to shout again just to scold me. I already know that she was not in favor of my decisions so I decided to keep quiet.

She probably wanted me to stay in the States and stop going back home. But, I'm not going to tolerate that.

"Love, I just want an honest answer coming from you." I couldn't help but cough at that. I'm not going to tell her the truth. When she finds out, I will no longer have freedom.

"I'm not lying." Even though we were on the phone, she still would not lose her doubt about me and I could feel it.

Turning back to the restaurant, I saw Benedict frowning at me, with food on the table. He already ordered a lot - maybe the rest is for me.

It was obvious that he was worried because I had been out here for a long time and the waiter was almost there next to him - and I know that his forehead was furrowed since he doesn't have anyone with him inside and thought he would have to eat all the food prepared.

I just told him to wait and he immediately nodded at me. He also pointed me to the waiter and when she noticed me, she immediately left him in peace.

"It's just...I'm still trying to enjoy my vacation, Vanessa. Nothing more, "I replied after her long wait.

"I don't believe you," she replied irritably to me.

"Only then will I believe if Yen is with you. Let her speak and explain. Give her the phone, now. "

Wait, does she still need to hear Yen just so she can believe me? How? My sister's at home.

Because of that, I immediately ran inside the restaurant and immediately covered the mic on my cellphone - I even tried to move it as far as possible from me to make sure. Even though it was vibrating because of Vanessa's voice, I ignored it.

So, I decided to go inside to talk to Benedict.

Benedict's eyes widened at me even as he split a steak with his fork and knife.

"You've been there for a while. Come on, let's eat, buddy. " I shook my head and answered him immediately.

"No way, Benz. Vanessa's on the line. " He frowned at what I said. It is obvious that he doesn't care about it.

"So? What will you do?"

"I'll leave you for now. I'll go home first. I'll come back for you later, "I assured him.

His eyes widened, even more, when I just tapped him on the shoulder and ran out again.

But before I could leave the restaurant, a shout from Benedict rang out inside the restaurant.

"How can I pay for all this?"

We'll split the bill anyway so I didn't hesitate to get in my car and proceed to leave. I also put my cell phone on the chair and still heard Vanessa on the other line.

Damnit, I thought she ended the call already.

"Love, come on. Where the hell is Yen? I want to speak with her, " she said as I shook my head and answered her with slight irritation in my tone.

"Be patient, love. Please wait. " When I said that, she immediately answered me - almost as if she wanted to come here to the Philippines to fight me.

"So, you're not at home, huh? I knew it. If you can't make her talk, then - "

"Love, Yen is asleep. So I was just looking for a way to wake her up and not make them angry. Just let me think."

She stopped talking afterward. I kept driving, trying to press the horn to get the other cars to make way, and tried to speed up.

If my sister, Yen, was the only option to save me from this mess, then I'd probably need to get to her fast.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

THE HOUSE WAS EMPTY AND LOCKED.

When I remembered that it was Monday, I almost hit my head on the car horn. If I only knew that Yen was going to the mall, I would have gone straight there.

The good thing was that I made sure that the guards were all attentive. When they heard the horn of my car, they immediately opened a way for me.

As I entered my Honda Civic in our garage, I heard Vanessa's voice speak again. She was obviously very bored.

"So? Is Yen awake, now? " she asked me as I almost facepalmed and rolled my eyes.

If she really can't wait, I won't waste any more time. I'll just look for another reason just to finish her call.

I still have a lot to do and I don't want her to add to my problems.

"Love, Yen is still asleep. She doesn't even wake up even if I knock. I'll probably call you next time."

I dropped the call before she refused and continued speaking.

Damn, she annoys me. I can't stand her.

I'm tired, so I won't really force myself to drive anymore and look for Yen inside the mall.

And with the amount of time that I'll be spending here in Manila, I don't know what mall she went to.

I got out of my car and immediately put the key in my pocket. Almost all of our guards greeted me as I nodded to them.

They are also kind when it comes to me and they don't really make fun of or look down on me. I also didn't hear any complaints to me so I know that none of them hide some resentment towards me.

The only one who can be that demanding and strict in our family is my sister and if she's the one in here, she'll absolutely ignore it.

I also went inside the house and immediately saw that my sister had left something for me. A carbonara and a Jollibee delivery are right on the table.

Not wasting any more time, I immediately went straight to the table and sat down on one of the chairs. I immediately picked them up and decided to eat.

I don't know, I feel like I forgot something.

Even before I split and get the carbonara, I immediately remembered my friend.

Oh sh-t, Benedict.
