CAN THIS DAY GET ANY WORSE?

My cheeks felt hot, my mind almost lit out a fire out of anger when I suddenly got drenched by water from the busy street.

All of my credentials were soaked with dirt and water and then crumples until it got to the point where they could no longer be given to the school. I only have a few days to enlist but then, this is what happened.

I actually thought that this stuff only happens in tragic movies. But no one told me that even in real life,  there's still a slight possibility to encounter it.

I'm in a rush for the enrollment and now this. Darn, how am I going to submit this now?

My eyes were daring to release those tears welling up my eyes if only I hadn't wiped them off and sat on the side of the road --- taking one final glance at my requirements.

The only good thing about this tragedy was that it was only a copy. It was a good thing that these were only Xerox copies and the original ones are back home since I wasn't quite sure about what I really needed to be able to enroll and transfer immediately to the university.

To be honest, it was my mom's choice to let me be with Sam at Maple Ridge University on Grandview Avenue.

The bad news, on the other hand, was that I wasted my time and effort on nothing but an accident.

And because it's completely useless now, I would need to come back.

Instead of spending just one fare, there would be one more expensive transportation fare and I'm sure that my Aunt Mich won't be too happy to hear this.

Such bad luck.

I looked at myself and stood up, immediately noticing that the puddle of water was near me when the car had passed by so quickly.

It even ruined how I look so I had no choice but to sigh and frown deeply. Damn, how am I going to school now?

I can't just walk inside looking like this. Running my fingers through my hair, I immediately called Sam --- who seemed steps far away from me.

Sam must have noticed that he was no longer following me so he immediately returned and his eyes widened when he saw my condition.

A few seconds later, he rain before searching inside his bag for what I could use.

When she saw a box of wipes, she took it and handed it to me. Grasping the box in my hands, I quickly thanked her, got two, and finally wiped the dirt off my legs.

Still, I could see from my peripheral view that she was still looking at my state. She was worried. I could see it.

She had her arms crossed and her eyebrows knitted in a worried state. Giving back the box of wipes back to her, she took it back and quickly asked me a question.

"What just happened?"

And how the hell can I explain that to her?

Before I could even answer her question, I heard a shout in the distance.

Who the hell was that? Hearing someone made me feel curious about the situation at hand.

Weird, Most people here had cars. And there were only a few people in here. So, who could that be?

Walking a few minutes while Sam was behind me, I saw a man who seemed familiar to me.

That same red jersey and that tall figure. I could see how hard he was pushing while his friend was shouting inside the car.

Truth be told, he almost shouted back in anger, scolding his friend when he noticed that the Honda Civic, which looked like it was still stuck in the manhole, was still not moving.

And to be honest, it was really funny watching them bickering.

"Come on, Ethan! Push the damn car!" The man's shout from inside the car seemed to echo towards us.

When I looked at them closely, one man in the back seemed to be pushing the car and the other was inside --- shouting for the friend to hear.

"How about we switch places, huh? So you can feel how difficult it is," replied the man who was outside before gasping for breath. The car moved a bit as I saw its tire slowly move, his friend shouted from inside again to keep on going.

In anger, the man immediately replied back as if he was very tired. To be honest, it became a wonder to me why I still hadn't got his name.

"Can you stop yelling at me? You're just sitting there inside. You keep on disturbing me," the man sighed as it was very difficult to push his car because the tire literally looked like it wasn't going anywhere soon.

When he wiped the sweat off his forehead with his handkerchief, he turned around and traces of annoyance were etched on his face.

And what a surprise, it really was that guy from Jollibee.

Smiling, I immediately laughed to myself. Karma is that fast again, isn't it? I never thought this would happen to them but it actually did.

It was not the Karma I wanted but, I guess this would do. Before I could even tell Sam about the situation and how funny it was, I suddenly felt a vibration inside my pocket.

Taking my phone out of my pocket, I looked at the one who had messaged me. My eyes widened when I saw my aunt's text to me.

Aunt Mich | 12:20 pm

Claire, are you done with your enrollment yet? Your mom texted me earlier, she was wondering how you've been. You need to be home in thirty minutes.

Looking back at Sam, I saw that she seemed to be thinking right next to me. "Is something wrong, Claire?"

"Nothing. I just had to go home, Sam. After all, I don't have decent papers to show anymore," I explained to her while the smile on her face disappeared when she heard this.

"So, you're going to come back tomorrow or the next day? I mean, it's just a waste of fare," she said to me while I just sighed and answered her. She does have a point there.

"I can't do anything, Sammie. Look, my files are all ruined," I said sadly before continuing, "Maybe we'll see you next time, shall we?"

She just nodded at me before smiling sadly. "Be safe. Just take a taxi to make sure you won't have to jump from one bus to another."

"See you, Sammie. I will." This was the last thing I said before walking around and seemed to be waiting for a ride.

And yet I didn't notice the stare that the guy was giving me.

The same guy from before.
