C L A I R E

I looked at the restaurant that Benedict told me about. At first sight, I was happy to see the simple decor that it had on the outside. But as soon as I went in with Sam, I didn't think that I would be a great fit here. It looks like it was only for those who had a stack worth of fortunes.

The golden chandelier hangs up in the middle of the room, the cobalt blue color had become evident on its chairs and actual dining room --- adding up a few brass studs to fill in the comfortable vibe that it has inside. Welcoming and even warm.

The ceiling was filled with eye-catching yet colorful paintings from famous landscapes created by Gaston Casimir Saint-Pierre, François Flameng, and probably more artists. It felt like a fine art museum. I was in awe as Sam went ahead of me, going directly to Benedict's table.

When I heard my name being called, I decided to follow and smile — seeing Sam sitting on one of the chairs. Taking the one across her, I made sure to ask her why she was suddenly here.

"So, I didn't think you'd go to Paris." I was suspicious when she only smiled at me cheekily. Weird, Sam is more likely a chatterbox. So, seeing her being silent like that scared me.

"If you're wondering where your blind date is, he'll show up soon." I almost jumped from my seat when I heard a deep voice from behind. I turned around and saw Benedict in a tuxedo as he adjusted his tie and smiled.

Hmm, this is a first.

Benedict probably noticed how worried I am so he decided to reassure me by giving me a thumbs up. "Don't worry, I know him. You're in good hands, I promise."

When he smiled at me, I felt different. It's not like he's happy with me because I can finally move on. His smile was as if he had planned this blind date thoroughly and for a really long time.

Suddenly Sam stood up and went right next to me. She then took out a blindfold, making me frown. As soon as she tied it around my eyes, I heard her comment.

"Claire, whatever you do, don't be angry with us. Don't be angry with him either."

My eyebrow raised at that.

Suddenly, I felt a hand telling me to stand up. Of course, knowing that it was Sam, I followed. Though, when someone else grabbed my hand and pulled me to their chest, I panicked.

I was about to pull away but their hands immediately caressed my cheeks before pulling my chin up. After a few moments, I felt someone's lips against mine. No, who was this?

Angry, I decided to take off the blindfold myself and saw a familiar face that I really didn't want to see on my blind date.

"You?" I asked as I looked at him with wide eyes.

I was startled by the man in front of me. There was no hesitation when I decided to close my eyes right in front of him. No, this can't be. I'm just dreaming. He is not really here. This is just a hallucination.

I tried to squeeze my hand and pinch my cheek when he approached me. When we both had eye contact, there I suddenly realized it wasn't a dream.

"You?" I answered as I heard my voice crack with annoyance and sadness. For the first time in my life, I was hurt because of the man in front of me now.

I can see the change in his appearance, the difference that happened when he left the country. Her hair used to be messy and now it looks like it has been combed a few times and slicked back. His old accessories suddenly disappeared and the only thing left was his silver watch.

The man who used to love only T-shirts and Jeans is now in a tuxedo in front of me, with a sad smile on his face. I never thought that going here would ruin my beautiful day.
