When I finally got home, the first thing I heard was a phone ringing out of the distance.

At first, I thought that it was my own phone. In instinct, I took out mine and saw that it wasn't even turned on.

If it wasn't mine, then whose phone was that?

Suddenly, I heard it beep and go straight to voicemail.

Hello to you. Thanks for calling. This is Ethan, the most handsome guy in the world. Please leave a message after this.

Wait, what?

My eyebrows furrowed at what he said. The most handsome guy? More like the greatest comedian of all time.

Suddenly, the voicemail ended and a voice quickly replaced it. It wasn't one of his friends. Hell no. A woman called. The volume was also loud so I was quite irritated when she decided to yell.

"Ethan? Where the hell are you?" I just looked at his cell phone with a glare.

This girl won't even leave a message, she kept on ranting. I sat down on my sofa and let her go for a few minutes, thinking that she'd end it once she knew there wasn't anyone going to pick up.

"Ethan! Answer my call this instant! I know you're there!" said the woman on the other line.

I paid no attention to her since I really thought that everything would end if she got the hint. Turned out, I was getting more annoyed by the minute.

She was too loud and sounded like that kid who doesn't get what they want when she shouts.

I couldn't take it anymore. This girl talks too much.

In a few seconds, I picked up the phone and replied, "The number you have dialed is not yet in service. Please try again later."

There was a slight pause and I thought that she had already hung up.

I couldn't help but let out a slight laugh and immediately got surprised when I heard the girl's voice shouting back to my ear.

"What the hell? Who are you? Give this phone to Ethan!" Gosh, with her screaming all the time, I would almost go deaf.

Glaring at the phone, I decided to prepare some coffee while holding the phone in my left hand as I went to the kitchen.

"Oh come on, it's just the two of us talking," I answered back in a bored tone before grabbing my mug.

I could hear her scoffing before she replied with hate evident in her tone.

"I'm Vanessa, Ethan's girlfriend," she told me with a boastful tone in her voice. From the looks of it, she wanted to taunt me.

Oh come on, I don't even care about your boyfriend.

"Ah, so, you're Ethan's friend, who is a girl?" I asked her. My lips curled into a smile once I heard her getting angry with me so suddenly.

She's so childish. Even by the way she speaks.

Pouring some hot water, I heard her squeaky voice on the line.

"What? No! We're more than that!" A disapproval tone replaced the quiet environment as I simply made my coffee without any comment.

I'll just let her talk to herself.

After a few minutes of silence, she gave in. "Ugh, you know what, just give this to him."

"I don't take orders from anyone. Just state your business and end this call," I replied before taking a sip of my coffee.

"Give this phone to Ethan." This is the phrase that speaks of the audacity of this woman.

My eyes rolled, "Ethan's not here."

"Then, why is his cell phone in your grasp?" She kept on asking questions about this rather than leaving a message for that guy to read.

If she won't stop, I'll end this call myself.

For the record, Ethan is no longer here. The dog chased him out of the subdivision.

"Ethan just left," I told her. "A dog chased him out of this subdivision."

"Just try to give his cell phone to him. Now." My eyes rolled as she couldn't even understand my simple message.

"You know what, just leave a message. I'm sure he'll still see that." After that, I ended the call.

That woman's weird.

I wanted to put the phone back on the table but then I saw his phone vibrate. My eyebrows furrowed when I saw that someone had tried to call it again but this time with an unknown number.

I guess this was him.

I picked up Ethan's phone and laid it on my computer desk in the living room so that at least I was comfortable not losing it right away. Yes, my desktop computer is in the living room since my parents use it whenever they have urgent business matters.

I know it's weird there but mostly I use it too because I sometimes watch movies. When I don't prefer using the television, I switch places to watch on the computer.

A knock outside the gate made me look back and peek out the window. I don't want someone knocking on my door, especially if it was a stranger. My aunt still hasn't come back from her trip too.

I'm always left behind. To be honest, I'm used to it.

"Who is that?" I opened as I slowly opened the door and walked to the gate. A guy stood there with a smile and I immediately knew who it was.

"Claire? It's Ethan. I left my cell phone on the table. Can you open the gate? " He then knocked again so I stood there, teasing him.

"Why should I?" I asked as he then let out a sigh. He then pointed out his pockets to tell me that he was missing something.

He then frowned as soon as our eyes met, "My phone's missing."

I wanted to let him stand there for a while but then a few raindrops came and suddenly it went strong. Both of us stood there, a bit wet and shocked at the sudden storm.

Nodding to my bodyguard, I then told him to let him in and both of us came running inside my house to dry for a bit.

Well, I did not expect that to happen.
