(Narrator POV)
It was about midday when the Chitauri portal opened up, but all the Avengers were already suited up for the fight.

Tony had woken them up shortly after sunrise to tell them all about how Loki had gotten up about an hour before, and high-tailed it out of there.

They were not pleased.

Everyone yelled at Tony for a bit, before he finally reached a volume they could hear in order to remind them that he had not been the one to ditch.

At least Loki had woken him to inform him of the impending threat, otherwise they would have been sitting ducks, probably trying to find Loki.

Point was, the Chitauri showed up right on schedule and made a real stink out of ruining the city.

Nebula was floating around somewhere, but she had mostly been avoiding them and commanding from afar.

It was going alright, and about half an hour in, a blue and green light appeared that signified Loki's arrival.

He was wearing his battle armor and he stayed in full Jotun form, despite the looks from Thor. Blood covered him and he gripped a fancy spear (Lævateinn) in one hand.

Something gold was clenched in his other hand as he sneered to Thor.

"Hey! You're late to the party, Frosty!" Tony hollered over the line after he caught sight of the blue alien.

"Yes, well, I was busy fighting in another war." Loki answered before turning to Thor. "Did you know that Asgard was going to attack Jotunheim?" He asked in a deadly calm voice as a Chitauri tried to come for him and immediately got stabbed through the face.

"Wha- No! Father did not say a thing about it to me!" Thor said, and he genuinely looked surprised.

"You're lucky we have another war to win or I'd question you further." Loki grit his teeth before he seemed to remember something. He tossed the gold object at Thor's feet when the Thunder God finished impaling an enemy.

Thor was shocked as he stared down at his father's helmet. "Congrats, you're a king." Loki spat before turning to fight the Chitauri.

Thor was soon knocked from his stupor by a hit to the side, and he decided that he would grieve tomorrow and fight today.

Loki could have put it lighter, but frankly, he didn't care. It was because of Odin that his father was hurt and some of his people died. It was Odin's fault that Jotun children had spent the night fearing for their lives.

Odin was the reason Loki now had to fight two major battles back-to-back. Battles where he would most likely come up against serious foes, and an entire realm hung in the balance. No big deal or anything.

So he found himself in particular lack of sympathy for Aesir today.

The battle continued and Loki fought with as much strength as his previous fight, except he kept that big burst of power in for when he really needed it.

Tony was flying around being air control and a distraction, while Clint shot arrows from up high in the buildings.

Natasha and Steve were ground control while Thor and the Hulk were smashing anything in sight.

Loki at first joined ground control, before he eventually found himself fighting with Nebula on the balcony of Avengers tower.

"Well, if it isn't the Jotun runt." She sneered at him when he landed next to her on the platform.

"Nebula, I can help you. You just have to come with me and we can kill Thanos together." He told her and ignored the runt comment.

"I can't come with you, and we could never kill him." Nebula corrected quickly, but as she got closer he saw something strange.
