LINKS POV
"Atticus," Amelia said as she climbed on top of me. I frowned as I opened my eyes and looked up at Amelia.
"Hi," I chuckled.
"Get up," she said and got off me and grabbed her computer.
"Why it's comfy in here," I complained.
"Because my Harvard decision came get up," she said.
"It came!" I smiled and sat up, "what does it say?"
"That's why you have to get up dummy I'm opening it down stairs," she chuckled.
"Okay okay," I said as we both walked downstairs. Meredith and Derek were getting ready for work and Amelia put her computer down on the table.
"It came," she smiled.
"Harvard?" Derek asked.
"Yes," Amelia said.
"Did you open it?" Meredith asked.
"Not yet," she said and logged onto her computer. I really hope she gets in. She wants this more than anything in the world.
AMELIAS POV
I was so nervous. My hand was shaking. I opened the email and clicked the link. I wanted this so badly, but I knew all of my set backs probably made me less qualified than everyone else. I forced everyone to stand on the other side of the counter so they couldn't see. I logged in and read the letter. I got in. I smiled as I looked up at Link, Derek, and Meredith.
"I got in," I smiled.
"Congrats!" Meredith smiled and hugged me.
"Thank you," I said.
"So proud of you Amy," Derek said and hugged me, "I knew you could do it."
"I'm proud of you," Link smiled and kissed me, "I love you."
"I love you too," I smiled. I got into Harvard. I was so proud of myself. Maybe I should call my mom. She would want to know. Right? We weren't ideally close but we talked a little bit.
"I'm gonna go call mom," I said and grabbed my phone.
"Okay," Derek smiled. He liked that we were getting along. I mean yeah we both had grudges for how she treated me all those years, but it was nice to stop the fighting. I dialed my moms phone number and sat down in the living room.
"Hey mom," I said.
"Hi honey what's up?" She asked.
"I got my Harvard decision today," I said.
"You did," she said happily, "did you open it what did it say?"
"I got in," I smiled.
"Aw Amelia!" She said, "I'm so proud of you! Are you going to go?"
"Yeah," I said, "I'm gonna go."
"I'm so proud of you," she said. That meant more to me than she would ever know.
"Thanks mom," I said.
"Where's Link thinking about going?" She asked.
"Columbia," I said.
"Ah, Derek went there," she said.
"Yeah," I said, "at least it's on the same coast as Boston," I chuckled.
"Are you worried about long distance?" She asked.
"A little bit," I said, "it's fine I haven't talked to Link about it."
"Okay," she said, "well I'm proud of you and congrats."
"Thanks mom," I said. I walked back into the kitchen. Meredith and Derek hugged me and then left to go to work. It was Saturday so Link and I were going to hangout the whole day. I was thinking about long distance. It was always in the back of my mind. What if we broke up after high school? What if he didn't want to do distance? I started making some eggs and so felt Link's arms go around my waist.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah I'm fine," I said.
"Talk with your mom go okay?" He asked.
"Yeah," I said, "do you want eggs?"
"Yeah sure," he said and kissed my cheek. I finished making eggs and Link and I sat at the table.
"Can you tell me what's wrong you just got into your dream school and you're acting weird," Link said and looked at me.
"Are we going to be okay?" I asked, "I mean I know you haven't heard from Columbia yet, but if you go to New York and I go to Boston, are we going to be okay?"
"I promise we'll be okay," Link said and grabbed my hand, "remember when I told you I wanted to marry you?"
"Yes," I smiled.
"Well I said that three years ago and nothing had changed has it?" He said.
"No," I chuckled.
"I know long distance seems scary, but we can do it," he said, "we'll be alright."
"Yeah," I said.
"And if you think about it, out of all the places in the country we could go, Boston and New York aren't that far," he said.
"I know," I chuckled.
"We'll be okay," he said, "you're the love of my life Amelia."
"You're the love of my life too," I smiled.
"I'm so proud of you," he said.
"I'm proud of you too," I said.
"Hey I could still get denied from Columbia," he chuckled.
"I'm sure you won't," I said.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," I said. We finished breakfast and Link picked me up from behind and I giggled.
"Link," I laughed as he wrapped his arms around me.
"What do you want to do today?" He asked as he put me down on the couch.
"I don't know," I said and pecked his lips, "what do you want to do today?"
"Well actually I have a present for you," he said.
"A present for me?" I said, "what's the occasion?"
"Well, I was going to wait until a little later to give it to you but today seems appropriate," he said, "it's in my car hold on."
"Okay," I smiled. He went out to his car and came back with a little box. He handed it to me and I smiled.
"Link you know you don't have to give me presents," I chuckled, "but thank you."
"Just open it," he chuckled. I opened it and it was a ring with our anniversary engraved in it.
"Okay it does have an explanation," he chuckled, "I was going to wait to give it to you, but it's a promise ring to show how much I love you no matter where in the country we go to school, or where we live, because I love you more than anything in the world. I know we're too young to get married, but I want to marry you one day, so here's a promise to make you my bride one day."
"Link," I smiled, "you're adorable oh my gosh, I love you so much. And I will marry you when that day comes." I smiled and kissed him passionately. I looked at the ring and it was so pretty. I put it on my finger and looked at Link.
"Did you ask Meredith for my ring size?" I chuckled, "or are you a lucky guesser?"
"I asked Meredith," he laughed.
"I love it Link, it's perfect," I said.
"Perfect ring for a perfect girl," he said.
