AMELIAS POV
Today I was going to Link's dad's house for dinner. I adored his mother and hoped his father was similar. I got dressed and put some makeup on and I walked downstairs.
"Your pen pal sent you another letter," Derek said annoyed.
"Oh," I said.
"What are you doing talking to him?" Derek said.
"I just wanted closure," I said.
"Well why did he respond?" Derek said.
"Probably because I told him I hope he rots in jail," I chuckled and Derek didn't seem amused.
"Does Link know?" Derek asked. I nodded.
"Yeah I told him I was going to respond," I said.
"Okay," Derek said. Meredith was still at work. I pushed my hair behind my ear and grabbed my phone to see if Link texted.
"So where are you going? Link's dad's?" He asked.
"Yeah," I said, "his parents are divorced."
"Gotcha," he said, "you'll be home later then?"
"Yeah," I said, "Link said he'll drive me back home and drop me off."
"Sounds good," Derek said.
"Can I open the letter?" I asked as I looked at the envelope on the counter.
"If you want to," Derek said. I opened the envelope and looked at it.

Dear Amelia,
I'm sorry you can't forgive me, but I understand. I still love you, and I hope you're happy. I'm glad you've moved on. Write me back sometime?

From,
Ryan Kerrigan

I folded the piece of paper and put it back in the envelope.
"You okay?" Derek asked.
"Yeah," I said, "Just closure."
"What are you doing tomorrow?" Derek asked.
"I don't know," I said, "probably hanging out with Link what else do I usually do."
"Well you have to be home for dinner tomorrow," he said.
"We having guests?" I asked.
"Mom," he said.
"Oooh no yeah I'm busy tomorrow," I said.
"She wants to see you," Derek said.
"I don't really care," I said.
"Amelia," Derek said.
"Why does she want to see me?" I said, "does she know about Link?"
"No," Derek said, "I don't think so at least."
"Okay," I said.
-
The doorbell rang and it was Link.
"Derek can you get that!" I yelled from upstairs.
"Sure," Derek said. I brushed my hair and grabbed my phone as I heard the front door open. I walked down the stairs and saw Link.
"Hi," I smiled.
"Hi," he said.
"Have fun," Derek said, "I'll see you later?"
"Mhm," I smiled and walked out with Link.
"You look pretty," Link smiled and pulled me in for a kiss.
"Thanks," I smiled.
"Are you nervous?" He asked.
"Uh a little," I chuckled.
"Oh don't be my dad will love you," he said.
"Okay," I smiled. We got in his car and started driving. I was nervous but I was also excited. I loved Link's family. He had such a loving family and if his dad was anything like his mom I would be okay.
LINKS POV
I parked in my dad's driveway and I grabbed Amelia's hand as we got out. My dad wanted to meet Amelia so badly so here we were. I could tell she was a little nervous. She always tells me how parents aren't really her thing but my mother adores her.
"You ready?" I smiled.
"Yeah," she nodded. I rang my dad's doorbell and he opened the door.
"Link, Amelia," he smiled, "come in."
"Dad, this is Amelia, Amelia, this is my dad," I said.
"Hi," Amelia smiled and shook his hand.
"You can call me Eric," my dad said, "it's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you too," Amelia said as we walked inside for dinner. I hoped dinner would be good.
-
It seemed to be going well. I could tell my dad liked Amelia, which was good. I knew she was nervous because she really liked my mom and wanted the same for my dad.
"So Amelia what do your parents do?" My dad asked. Shit. I forgot to tell him not to ask about parents.
"Oh uh I actually live with my brother and my sister in law," Amelia said, "they're both surgeons."
"Oh, that's cool what kind of surgeons are they?" My dad asked.
"My brother is a neurosurgeon and my sister in law is a general surgeon," I said.
"Do they work at the hospital around here?" He asked, "Grey Sloan I think?"
"Yeah they work there," Amelia said.
"That's cool," he said.
"Yeah," Amelia said.
"Amelia wants to be a surgeon," I said.
"Oh uh yeah," Amelia shrugged.
"Well at least someone knows what they want to do," my dad chuckled.
"Hey," I said.
"I'm just messing with you," my dad said, "how's your mother?"
"She's good," I said.
"That's good," my dad said.
-
Amelia was in the bathroom and I turned to me dad.
"So?" I said.
"I like her," my dad said.
"That's good," I said.
"Your mother also told me how much she loves her so I don't really have a choice not to," he joked.
"Yeah mom really likes her too," I said.
"She's good for you," my dad said, "stay with her."
"That's the plan," I said.
"Also you didn't tell me to not ask about parents," he said, "I didn't mean to."
"No you're right it's my fault," I said, "it's a sensitive subject for her and I just wasn't thinking you, as a parent, would ask about hers."
"I didn't offend her right?" He said worried.
"No," I said, "You didn't, you're fine."
"Okay," he said. Amelia walked back into the kitchen and I smiled.
"You ready?" I asked and kissed her cheek.
"Yeah," Amelia said, "thank you so much for having me."
"You're welcome," my dad said, "drive home safely okay?"
"I will," I said as I took Amelia's hand. It went well. Thankfully.
"I love your dad," Amelia said as we got in the car, "he's funny."
"Yeah, he really liked you too," I said.
"Oh that's good," Amelia said.
"Yeah it is," I smiled.
"Yeah," she smiled and pecked my lips. I drove her home and parked on the street. I looked at her and smiled.
"I'm so glad my dad loved you," I said and kissed her again, "because I'm so serious about you Amelia. I want to marry you one day."
