Tw: abuse and sexual assault
AMELIAS POV
"Okay honey just lay back and the scan will start," Arizona said.
"There's no need for a scan I'm fine," I sighed.
"Amelia," Arizona said, "you have more bruises than fingers. It doesn't hurt to get a scan."
"Arizona!" Derek said as he came in.
"What's up?" Arizona said.
"Can you do a tox screen after this," Derek asked. Arizona nodded as she looked at me.
"Are you on anything?" She asked me, "it's important if you need antibiotics or anything."
"No," I said.
"You're sure," she said.
"I didn't take anything today," I said weakly, "I swear." She nodded and left as the CT started. This was hell. Arizona said the scan was finished and we walked down to a patient room. She ran the tox screen and Derek came in with a police officer.
"Tell him what you told Meredith," he said. I panicked as I looked at Arizona.
"Derek why don't I talk to her and I'll come meet you guys in the hall," Arizona said.
"That sounds good," the officer said before Derek could answer. Arizona closed the door behind them and sat down next to me.
"Why don't you tell me what happened?" Arizona said.
"He hits me," I said, "sometimes."
"Who?" Arizona asked.
"My boyfriend," I said, "Ryan. He gets mad sometimes."
"He did all this?" Arizona asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"Did he ever sexually assault you?" Arizona asked. I bit my lip as I looked at her. I nodded and she sighed.
"Okay," she said, "Okay, I'm going to go talk to the police for you okay? I'll send Derek in."
"How was the scan?" I asked.
"You are thankfully fine," she said, "no broken ribs or bleeding."
"That's good," I said.
"Yeah," she said. Arizona left and Derek came back in. She left with the police officer and I looked up at Derek.
"How did your tox screen come back clean?" He asked as he sat down.
"Because I didn't take anything today," I said crying.
"He was giving you drugs?" Derek asked.
"Just oxy," I said.
"JUST OXY? AMELIA YOU SAY THAT LIKE ITS A CANDY BAR YOU WERENT SUPPOSED TO EAT AFTER DINNER!" Derek said.
"Derek please," I begged him, "I'll get better again."
"Your CT came back clean," Derek said.
"Yeah, that's good right?" I said.
"It is," He said.
"Ok," I said.
"I'm sorry you went through that," he said, "you don't deserve that."
"Are they arresting Ryan?" I asked.
"They're looking into it," he said.
"Okay," I said sadly.
"Why didn't you leave him?" He said, "why didn't you come to me."
"You don't know what it's like to be in a relationship like that," I said.
"I don't but," he started.
"Then you don't get an opinion," I said.
DEREKS POV
Amelia fell asleep. She probably just didn't want to talk to me anymore. I was standing outside her room with Meredith.
"I don't understand why she didn't leave him," I sighed as I sat down. Meredith sat down next to me.
"We see patients in a similar situation like this all the time. We think it's easy to just get up and leave but it's not Derek," Meredith said, "we both know we've seen mothers struggle to leave their husbands or boyfriends and we don't understand why but it's not our place to judge."
"I wish she wasn't using," I sighed.
"We can work on that with her," Meredith said.
"Derek did you call your mother?" Richard asked.
"No," I said.
"She's on your mother's insurance. You have to call her," Richard said.
"Can you put her on my insurance for the day?" I asked.
"No," he said, "but you can tell her that we ran a CT to rule out appendicitis because she had stomach pains."
"And the tox screen?" I said.
"Standard for aggravated teenagers," Arizona chimed in.
"Thank you," I said. I called my mom and told her and she really didn't question me or care. I hate how she basically disowned Amelia. They don't talk at all. The last time all of us were together was my birthday 5 months ago. The next time we'll be together is maybe Christmas. Who knows.
"Meredith? Derek?" Arizona asked.
"Yeah?" I said.
"There's a boy in the waiting room for Amelia," she said, "one of you needs to see if it's Ryan. I don't know what he looks like." We both got up and followed her down to the waiting room.
"Which one?" I asked.
"The boy sitting next to the lamp," Arizona said, "holding the flowers."
"That's not Ryan," I said, "I don't even know who that is."
"That might be her friend Link," Meredith said.
"Link?" I said.
"This friend in her spanish class," Meredith said.
"He mentioned spanish class," Arizona said, "do I let him up?"
"Up to Amelia," I said.
AMELIAS POV
The door opened and it was Arizona.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" She asked.
"I'm okay," I said, "kinda craving drugs if I'm being honest."
"Well I have something that can take your mind off of it," she said.
"What is it?" I said.
"There's someone in the waiting room wanting to see you," she said.
"Is it Ryan?" I said scared, "or my mom."
"It's your friend Link," she smiled, "he said that you texted him that you were here and he wanted to see you."
"He came?" I asked.
"Yeah," she said, "can I let him up?"
"Sure," I said. After a few minutes the door opened and it was Link.
"Uh hi," I said.
"Hey," he said and put a bouquet of flowers on the table and I smiled.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah," I nodded, "thanks for stopping by, you didn't have to."
"I care about you," he said, "I wanted to make sure you were alright."
"I'm fine it's just a few bruises," I said, "I fell and my surgeon brother freaked out."
"You don't have to lie. I won't tell anyone," he said softly. I looked at him and then back out the window.
"Okay," I said.
"Okay?" He said.
"I'll tell you what happened," I said.
