AMELIAS POV
I woke up and rolled over. I didn't want to go to school today. I didn't want to see Ryan. I shouldn't even be talking to him because of the trial. I turned my phone on and I had a text from Link.
"Good morning," it read. I smiled as I texted him back.
"Good morning," I sent.
"I'll see you at school?" He sent.
"You will," I sent. I walked downstairs and Meredith and Derek were making pancakes. Weird. They like never do that.
"Good morning!" Meredith smiled and hugged me, "how are you feeling?" This was definitely because I cried the entire night last night over Ryan. Ugh. It wasn't that big of a deal.
"Good morning," I said.
"Are you going to school today?" Derek asked.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"That's good," Meredith said.
"I have a question," I said.
"Sure," Derek said.
"Well I invited Link to dinner sometime this week like you guys suggested. He said yes, so I was wondering if he could come over tonight maybe?" I said.
"Sure," Derek said, "he can come over tonight."
"Okay," I smiled.
-
I walked into school and Link was waiting for me at my locker with Jo.
"Hi," I said. No Ryan. That was good.
"I am so sorry I bailed yesterday," Jo said, "did you guys figure out the homework?"
"Yeah we did, it's no problem," Link said.
"Maybe we should do that again and I won't bail," Jo chuckled.
"That'd be fun," I said. Jo smiled as I put a few things in my locker.
"Amelia," Ryan said as he walked on the other side of me. I looked at Link and Jo and nobody knew what to do.
"Ryan," I said.
"Why did I get a court hearing notification in the mail?" Ryan said sternly.
"Can we please not talk about this here," I said.
"No we are going to talk about this here because you refuse to talk to me anywhere else," Ryan said.
"Hey Amelia didn't you want to show me something on the chem packet before class?" Jo said quickly.
"Yeah," I said, "Sorry Ryan I have to go." We walked away and I turned to Jo.
"Thank you," I said.
"You're welcome," Jo said, "I figured you didn't want to talk to him anyway."
"I didn't," I said.
"You okay?" Link asked.
"I'm fine," I said.
"Hey I gotta run," Jo said and walked off to class.
"Hey so can you come over for dinner tonight?" I asked Link.
"Sure," he said, "I'd love to."
"Okay," I smiled.
"What time?" He asked.
"We could do chem or spanish work together and then have dinner," I said, "4?"
"I'll see you at 4," he said.
"Okay," I smiled. I walked into class and sat down. Maybe Link was a good thing.
MEREDITHS POV
"Derek it's a good thing he's coming over," I said.
"I know," Derek said, "but I worry about her."
"I know, but she's making friends. It's good for her. She can't sit in her room and think about Ryan all the time," I said.
"I know," Derek said.
"It's a good thing," I said and kissed his cheek. Amelia was coming home from school soon. I hoped Ryan wasn't bothering her a lot at school. She didn't need that. I heard the front door open and it was Amelia. Derek let her drive to school today so she can be a little more independent.
"Hey," Amelia said as she came into the kitchen.
"How was school?" Derek asked.
"It was good," Amelia said, "and I told Link he could come at 4 before dinner if that's okay." I smiled at Derek and nodded.
"That's okay," I said.
"Okay cool," she said and took her bag and walked upstairs.
"Romantically or not, that boy is good for her," Derek said.
"He is," I said.
AMELIAS POV
I was freaking out. I like Link. Like really like Link. I've been trying to ignore it for the past week but I can't. He's so nice, and charming, and cute. He's so nice. I can't get over it. I've never liked anyone as nice as him. It's kinda refreshing. I put on jeans and a shirt and brushed my hair. Having him over for dinner was probably a mistake. Derek would interrogate him, and Meredith would try to set us up.
"Amelia," Derek said as he opened my door.
"Yeah?" I said.
"I think Link just got here," Derek said.
"Can we hangout in my room?" I asked as I looked out the window and saw him getting out of his car.
"Yeah sure," Derek said. I walked downstairs and opened the door as he walked up.
"Hey," he smiled.
"Hey," I said. He came in and Meredith came down the stairs.
"Uh Link this is Meredith, my brothers wife," I said.
"Nice to meet you," Link said.
"You too," Meredith smiled and hugged him. Derek came out of the kitchen.
"And this is my brother Derek," I said.
"Nice to meet you Link," Derek said and shook his hand.
"You too," Link said. We went upstairs and I opened my bedroom door.
"So this is my room," I chuckled.
"I like it," he said and sat down at me desk.
"Is this unfinished spanish homework?" He said as he held up a piece of paper.
"Definitely not," I chuckled and grabbed it back as I pulled up a chair.
"You're so organized," he admired.
"Guess so," I chuckled. He looked at me and he smiled.
"You look really nice," he said.
"Thanks," I said, "you too."
LINKS POV
I was so nervous. I liked Amelia so much. I wanted to ask her out so badly but I knew she was hurting over Ryan.
"Link you spelt that word wrong," Amelia chuckled.
"Whoops," I laughed.
"Thought you were the smart one," Amelia joked.
"Me being the smart one?" I said, "I thought that was you."
"Looks like we have a problem then," she laughed as she nudged me softly. I smiled as her eyes met mine. She froze for a second as she looked at me.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Can I kiss you?" She asked in a small voice. I felt like my heart was racing.
"Y-yeah you can," I stuttered.
"You're sure?" She asked cutely as she moved closer to me.
"I'm sure," I said as I pushed her hair out of her face. She leaned in and kissed me. It felt like magic.
