Brandi came to eat a few hours later, but this time she looked rested, so I guessed that she must have fallen asleep. Amber had come in not too long ago and also grabbed a burger bomb. I was on the couch watching tv and Amber sat beside me.
"Hey girlie, you okay today?" She asked me as we stared at the tv
"Yes. I am sorry about last night." I said, utterly ashamed of myself
"I understand it. It's too soon. And we know that, we only pick because we're all a big family. We just saw something we hadn't seen in awhile: you actually having some hope again."
"It's okay, I know why you guys do it."
Then it got quiet and the others soon joined us to watch mind numbing television. When the night got late, we all went to bed. When I awoke in the morning as usual I dressed in my blasé attire, my boring shoes and my safe hair choice.
Once I reached my place of work, I walked up to my office as usual and then sat my stuff down. I poured myself some coffee and then proceeded to sit down at my desk. Caine had decided to leave for Texas early and now was gone. All you saw was shadows where his plaques and accomplishments used to be.
The office felt different, empty, Just like I was feeling, even though Leo's stuff was now in here. In fact, he wasn't even In the office yet so It was quiet. But of course that didn't last for long. I smelled him first: old spice assaulted my nostrils and lord how I loved the smell. I had smelt old spice before, but no one had ever made it more alluring than he did.
Ugh, I needed to get a hold of myself!
I suppressed a shudder of pleasure as I saw him out of the corner of my eye enter into the office. He walked over wordlessly to the coffee maker, wafting more of his rich smell my way. I bit my lip and forced myself to focus on my paper work. But I couldn't help sneaking looks at him. He was dressed in a sharp dark suit with black wingtips, and from what I could see from his profile, a black bow tie. Professional and casual all at the same time. I saw that he had a faux bed head look going on today. And yes, it did look good.
My heart rushed like a freight train. God being around this man was an almost impossible task, and I could barely look him in the eyes.
"How are you this morning?" I suddenly heard him ask.
I dropped my pen momentarily startled. Even asking something so simple and non invasive gave his voice the authority I always heard.
"I am fine... and you?" I asked
"I am well."
I heard the clank of the coffee mug being returned to it's holder. He came to sit in the chair next to me and immediately I tensed up but pretended to still be fluid. He leaned forward and set the coffee cup on my desk.
"So, we have a dilemma this morning." I heard him say
His breath brushed against my ear and my eyes slipped closed, lips slightly parted. I cleared my throat and got myself together.
"And just what dilemma is that?" I asked, albeit a bit shaky.
"Well, we don't have patients until 2."
Crap.... it was Thursday.
I swallowed hard. I would be alone with this man for five hours straight.
"Well... that is a dilemma." I said quietly
I saw the distinct smile play on his lips.
"Hmm." he got up and stood over my shoulder. "We have this five hour stretch of no action and me, I don't want to just sit here. So I propose we go out around the town, have some fun."
