Mac's POV
So the mission went great except the fact that I broke my foot. Bozer brought me home after they put me in a cast. This is gonna be a fun two weeks. Noel comes up to me and examines my cast. Izzy just keeps playing and Noel keeps looking at it. I sit on the couch with her and explain to her what a cast is. She seems to understand. I watch as a small tear escapes. "What's wrong?" I ask her. "You hurt." She says. I get what Riley was saying. "Yea but the cast is gonna make it get better. It doesn't hurt anymore. Okay?" I say. She nods and goes back to examining her truck.
Later Riley, Jack and Mia get home. "So what did the doctor say?" Riley asks me. "They said I broke my foot and I'm gonna be in a cast for the next 2 weeks." I say. She nods just glad that I'm not too badly injured. "Anyway did you guys get the information you needed?" I ask. "Yep. Took a few hours but most of them are headed to jail as we speak." Jack says. "Most of them?" I ask confused. "Sophia wasn't directly involved. She was used as a way to get intel on us even though she didn't know that was what she was doing. Her dad threatened her to make her abide by his rules." Riley explains. I just nod and smile trying to hide the emotions I've been feeling all day. After we all head to bed Riley turns over to face me. "You're not okay are you?" She says knowing me too well. "Yea.... it's just...... what if this is in my blood. I mean most of my family has been involved in this deadly operation what if it's not coincidental." I say. "Mac. Just because some of your family members have made bad examples doesn't mean you'll turn out like them. Take Mia and I for example. I was in prison for a few years for hacking but Mia learned from my mistake and knows not to do it. Same principles apply to you. You've seen the outcomes and you know how to avoid it." She says. "Your right. Thanks Riles." I say feeling a lot better. "Anytime." She says. We both drift off to sleep and I finally feel safe.
3 days later
Today is Friday and Riley and I woke up early to get the twins ready for their doctors appointment. We get to the doctors office and get taken back right away. Its not crowded for a Friday morning. The doctor does the usual tests on the twins. "They both seem normally healthy. Did you have any questions or concerns we should maybe look into?" The doctor asks. "Actually we were a little bit concerned with Noel. Our jobs require us to occasionally leave for a few days and everytime we're gone for more than a day she usually cries when we get back and my mom says she's just not her normal self while we're gone. She doesn't cry that we know of while we're gone she just seems detached." Riley explains. "It sounds like she may have early signs of seperation anxiety. There really isn't much we can do for that except have you guys reassure her your okay when you come home." The doctor says. They give us some information on seperation anxiety and we head to the next appointment. Riley's mom meets up with us and takes the twins home. "So are you excited or nervous?" I ask Riley. "A little of both. I'm just hoping everything's fine with the baby." She says.
After the appointment we head to the Phoenix. The whole way there I kept looking at the picture of our baby. Riley had to drive because obviously I couldn't with my foot. "It still doesn't seem real. It feels almost like a dream still." I say. "I know what you mean. I think farther along it will start to feel more real." Riley says. "Yea. It's just crazy how in 2 years give or take I go from having no biological family to having 3 kids and an amazing wife." I say. "Yea it still feels like yesterday Bozer was constantly nagging at me about how I felt for you. He never let it go. Anyway we're here. Do you need help?" She asks. "Um I don't think so." I say getting out of the car after struggling for a minute. We head inside and Matty talks to each of us about what happened from different perspectives. After that she allowed us to just chill for a bit. "So how'd your doctor's appointment go Rye." Jack asks Riley. "Good. They said everything's normal and the baby's health looks good. Then they gave us a picture." She says putting the picture on the table in the center. "I still can't believe I'm gonna have another little cousin!" Mia says. "How far along did they say you were?" Jack asks. "They said about a month." Riley says. "Do you have a due date yet?" Leanna asks. "Not yet." She says. We all continue talking and all I can think is how in the world did I get this lucky?
