Riley's POV
Mac and I had our first big fight last night. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't mad. He doesn't trust me to go on an op alone and it hurts. Before taking Mia to school I leave a note on the counter telling him I was going to drop Mia off at school, the twins at my mom's, then head to the Phoenix for the op. Mia comes out and looks confused. "Where's Mac?" She asks. "He's gonna sleep in for a bit..." I say not wanting to tell her what happened last night. When we get in the car it's silent for a few minutes. "What really happened last night?" She asks. "What are you talking about?" I ask. "I was having trouble falling asleep and heard you two yelling at each other. Were you two fighting?" She asks. I just sigh. "Yea.... we were having an argument over an undercover op that I'm gonna go on alone. He doesn't trust me cause he doesn't think I can handle it." I say. "Well I'm no expert but sometimes fear overpowers trust, no matter how hard we try to trust fear warps our thoughts and makes us doubt. So maybe it's not that he doesn't trust you, maybe he is just scared for you." She says. I sit there for a moment unsure of what to say. "How do you come up with this stuff? How do you make me realize things I never would have thought of?" I say. "Your my sister Rye rye. It's not that hard from and outside perspective." She says. We get to her school and she wishes me good luck on the op.
When I walk into the war room I see Mac sitting there. "What are you doing here?" I ask. "I just wanted to apologize for last night. I didn't want to make you think I don't trust you it's just fear overwhelmed me and I wasn't thinking rationally." He says. "I guess I could have tried to understand where you were coming from too. I know you were just scared for me." I say. After Matty gets me ready for the mission we say goodbye. "Good luck Riles. I love you." Mac says. "I love you too Mac." I say. I get to the airport and head to the gate. I'm supposed to take the same plane as the drug dealer so I can hack into his stuff and set a reminder for him to meet me today. I sit in the waiting area and I see the target. He has a suitcase on him that I'm guessing he snuck past security. I open my laptop and make it look like I'm working on something. I start the process to hack into his phone. Once I'm in I hack the reminders and set one that says. "Meet client at 34th street." Once I'm done I put my laptop back in my carry-on and text Matty.
Me- All set. Reminder should go off at the end of the flight.
Matty- Good. Now just remember on the way to the street you need to change your outfit. I called in a favor and someone I know is gonna take you to that street.
Me- You know this is not how I imagined I would spend my first visit to Chicago.
Matty- You'll have to get Jack to take you some time. I hear they have amazing pizza there.
Me- we'll see lol.
Once we get to the Chicago airport I head outside Matty told me what the person picking me up would look like. Once I spot the guy I head that way. When we get in the van I change into black jeans, a black hoodie, and black boots. When we get to the street I see the dealer waiting in the alleyway. I get out then walk into the alley. "So your the college student I'm selling these to?" He says holding some baggies of white powder. "Yea and if you wanted to come I know a party happening at a club tonight. Usually invitation only but I think they'd make an exception for someone like you. We like to go hardcore." I say giving him the address and information. "I'll be there especially for someone as gorgeous as you." He says winking. I smile then walk away. Once I get back to the van I feel like I'm gonna vomit. I was trying so hard not to gag when that guy was hitting on my. Before getting in I throw up a little just thinking about it. I've been hit on before but that was the worst one by far, not to mention his breath smelled like onions.
Later at the "party" I turn my coms on. "Matty is everyone in position?" I ask. "Yep just don't scare him off and they should have him in custody soon." She says. "Easier said the done. Here he comes." I say seeing the dealer enter. I walk over to him with a glass of coke (it's supposed to pose as alcohol but I'm not gonna drink real alcohol so.....). "Hey there is the gorgeous girl I saw earlier." He says smiling. "Yea. Glad you could make it." I say. "Anything for my sweetie." I am trying my absolute hardest to keep smiling and not gag. "What do you say we head to a more private area?" He says putting his hand on my arm. Ok I can't wait for the backup to get any closer. I use the moves Mac taught me and eventually pin him to the ground. "Your going to be very sorry for your life choices." I say. "Maybe but I'm not going down without a fight." He says pulling out a knife. I try to knock it out of his hands but he cuts my leg before I can. Thankfully the backup gets there and takes him into custody. Once I get to the jet I start bandaging the cut. It's not too deep to the point where I need stitches but it's pretty long. Then we get back to the Phoenix. Mac rushes onto the jet. "Riles. Thank god! Are you okay?" He asks. I point to my leg and he sees the cut on my thigh. "A cut, not too deep. Other than that I'm just happy to be home with you." I say. Mac helps me inside and we go into the infirmary. Our nurse gets some supplies and starts cleaning it. "I'm gonna have to use this peroxide to clean it. This is gonna burn." She says. I hold Mac's hand and squeeze a little trying not to move. Once the nurse gets the bandage on we head home. My mom brought the twins home when she went to pick Mia up from school. I take the twins from her and go put them to bed. Izzy falls asleep then I see Noel crying a little. She doesn't really cry out loud. "Noel what wrong? Are you scared?" I ask. She shakes her head. "Momma." She says. I pick her up and sit there for a minute with her on my lap. "Did you miss me today?" I ask. She nods her head. "I know you missed me but me and daddy have jobs that require us to leave sometimes. I promise everytime we leave we miss you guys but we look forward to coming home and seeing you. So instead of being sad we try being excited." I say. She smiles and eventually falls asleep. I put her in the crib. "I love you Noel." I say. I walk into the living room and my mom comes up to me. Jack and I talked about it and if it's okay with you guys we would be happy to move here." She says. "That's great. The girls love having you guys here." I say. "So did you get the twins to sleep okay?" She asks. "Yea. Noel missed us but she calmed down once I talked to her." I say. "I can't imagine it's easy for them." She says. "I know that's why we try to spend time with them when we are home. I think they both know they're safe with you though." I say. After a little while Jack and my mom head home. "Can we watch a movie?" Mia asks. "Sure." I say. This is exactly what I need after a mission like today's.
