I'm here for you

Chapter 3

Shikamaru was awaken when the person in his arms started thrashing around, it took the Nara genius a few seconds to realize what was going on, he held the blonde tightly in his arms and whispered soothing words,"I'm here for you, everything is alright." The Nara kept on repeating these words and soon the blonde stopped moving and came soft snorres from him.

While Naruto slept peacefully, Shikamaru couldn't, his thoughts were filled with Naruto. Why is he suffering from such terrible nightmares? Is it the first time? Does he always get those? troublesome.

Shikamaru sighed and looked at the clouds as Naruto slept soundly. 

After a while, Naruto woke up and found himself pressed again Shikamaru's body, he looked up and his eyes locked with him, Shikamaru felt Naruto move and looked  at Naruto in his eyes, those sky blue eyes made his heart skip beats and his cheeks went warm,"Are you up?" 

Naruto nodded and moved a bit, Shikamaru released his grips and Naruto sat up, Shikamaru  followed suit. 

Kit, do you realise something?

Realise what?

Tch Dumb kit! You slept so soundly, don't you realise it? That Nara kid made the nightmares go away.

Yeah that is right. It's been a while since I got a peaceful sleep. But what are you suggesting?

Why am I sealed in this stupid kit? That Nara Brat is able to keep those nasty dreams away so ask him why is that so or get him to sleep with you everynight so that you don't get nightmares.

What???? How am I supposed to do that?

Not my problem kit! Now go away that Nara is staring at you.

Shikamaru stared at Naruto who spaced out, after the war, he knew that Naruto was talking to the nine tailed beast. After a few minutes Naruto snapped out of his thoughts.

Shikamaru noticed this and asked the question that was in his mind forever,"Do you always get those nightmares?"

Naruto was taken aback and Shikamaru cussed internally, Fuck! Was I too blunt?

Naruto didn't except that question but he was glad that Shikamaru didn't ask why he was getting those nightmares. He was not ready to answer that question yet.

Naruto chuckled awkwardly as he decided to ask Shikamaru for help,"For a while and um...you are the only one who keeps them away. "

Shikamaru's eyes widened for a second before going back to their lazy self,"Do I?"

Naruto bit his lower lip,"I want to know how? And why?"

Shikamaru doesn't know how to answer that,"To be honest I also don't know How or Why?"

Naruto let out a 'oh' disappointment clear from his voice, Shikamaru felt his tug at that dull eyes, so he offered,"Um...If you don't mind, I can sleep with you every night until we find the reason for your nightmare and how to stop it."

Naruto's  eyes widened and brightened by ten folds if possible.

Yo Kit! Your problem is solved. Haha.

Shut up fur ball!

Naruto smiled,"Can you?" But before shikamaru can say something that smile disappeared,"But won't it be too much of a bother for you? And what about your girlfriend and parents?"

Shikamaru let out a heavy breath,"My parents won't mind and nor would my girlfriend. Temari is too busy helping the sand rebuilt. And It won't be a bother to me but what about Hinata?"

Naruto looked at his lap,"Hinata and I broke up almost a one month ago, she doesn't love me anymore and is now dating Shino, they were going to officially announce that on our monthly dinner that is two days from now on."

That was something Shikamaru didn't expect. She is dating Shino? Why? Didn't she love and chase Naruto all her life? And why Shino? Naruto is whole lot better than him. Girls are so troublesome, I can't understand them.

Naruto looked up and smile weakly,"So can you help me?" Shikamaru nodded,"Of course I will. And I am sorry about Hinata."

Naruto smiled softly,"Thanks Shikamaru."

Shikamaru's breath hitched at the smile, after struggling for a bit he finally managed to say,"Let's go get something to eat. It's already noon."

Naruto nodded as he got up and started walking down the cliff with the nara.
