I'm here for you

Chapter 7

Naruto had fallen asleep in his arms again, Shikamaru smiled at the  blonde, he didn't want to wake him up but he had to because his mother has finished making lunch.

Shikamaru gently patted Naruto's arm,"Hey wake up Naruto, mom is done with the lunch." Naruto snuggled closer to his chest, shikamaru ignored his heart and started shaking the blonde,"Wake up sleepyhead, Naruto wake up~"

This time Naruto woke up, he looked at Shikamaru whose face was only a few inches away, he immediately moved away,"I-I um.....sorry."

Shikamaru raised his brows and Naruto said,"Sorry for being a bother." 

Shikamaru  never thought of Naruto being this way, polite. He always thought Naruto was knuckle headed person who does whatever he wants but in this past week he saw a different and unfamiliar Naruto.

Shikamaru got out of his bed,"No need to be sorry and you are NOT a bother. Now let's go and eat lunch."

With this the conversation ended and the boys walked into the dining room, Naruto was amazed at the sight of so many dishes. Yoshino came from the kitchen,"Sit down everyone and begin eating." Shikamaru and Naruto sat besides each other and infront of Yoshino and Shikaku. 

Yoshino said,"Naruto dear taste this and tell me how it is." Naruto smiled and ate a bite, Yoshino  looked at the boy who was staring at his bowl, she got worried that the  dishes was not  to his liking,"Naruto do you not like it? I can ma--"

Naruto didn't let her complete the sentence,"No it's not that. I love it. It's ju-just that this is the first time someone cooked something for me. I-I am just so happy."

Everyone went quiet. It was not a secret that Naruto doesn't have a family, Shikamaru looked at the blonde and then placed a dish on his bowl of rice,"Eat up the food is going cold."

Naruto nodded and started eating after muttering a 'Thank you'  Yoshino smiled and made it her personal goal to make Naruto smile everyday, she was getting too fond of the boy.

After they were finished eating, Naruto offered to help with the dishes, Yoshino smiled and gladly accepted the offer as her husband and son was too lazy to help her. By the time they were doing the dishes, Shikaku and Shikamaru were having a  discussion in the study room.

Shikaku looked at his son, and Shikamaru knew his father was asking about Naruto. 

Shikamaru said,"Guess I should explain it from beginning. Around a three days ago, I  went to the cliff to watch the  sunset and then I fell asleep, after I woke up, I- um  was hugging him to  sleep. The next day same thing happened and Naruto realised that I keep his nightmares away. So yesterday night I went to his place to sleep, a experiment sort of and yes I was able to keep them  away, this morning when I woke up, I noticed his house was in a very bad condition so I offered him to sleep here for a few days until Hokage-sama offered him new place."

Shikaku nodded in understanding and might add he was quite a bit surprised when he heard Shikamaru was hugging Naruto to sleep, althought he successfullly hid it,"Okay then did he tell you why he was facing those nightmares or what type of things he saw? As far I saw this was very serious and if he let it be, he can face some serious issues."

Shikamaru said,"No I didn't ask him because I could sense he wanted to avoid that questions, I know how serious this is but dad if you want me to be honest I don't know what to do."

Shikaku hummed, he knew that this was not something common, everyone faces a nightmare or two but Naruto's case was totally different, it was severe,"I will ask Inoichi about this. He might  know something about it and by the time Shikamaru take care of Naruto."

Shikamaru nodded,"I was going to take care of him anyway." Shikamaru meant every word but still it was a bit embarassing to say this infront of his father and he was grateful that shikaku didn't commented anything on it. However what he didn't notice was the knowing smirk his father had.

Hey guys Here I am with another update after a week. Geez I feel bad I can't update daily, my teachers are cruel, the assignments keep piling up. Tsk sorry guys.
